  1. 'A lot of fun out there'published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

Max Verstappen, who takes his third win of the year says: "Lewis was very quick so I had to keep pushing and all the time.

"He pitted early so we had to be on top of our pitstops we had a good move on him. I could control the race with the tyres I had it was unbelievable it was a lot of fun out there and great to win the race."

Speaking on the overtake on Hamilton, he says: "I was behind so I was pushing flat out on my out lap I was close into the DRS and we knew we had great top speed the whole weekend already - but that was a guess - and I'm very happy to have got past."

Peter: Just to clarify: the two best races we've had this year are at tracks that are being dropped from the calendar.

F1 Chats: Still reeling, what an absolutely incredible race. Heartbroken for Albon of course, but can they all be like this?

David North: REALLY looking forward to listening to the Chequered Flag podcast on the way to work tomorrow morning. No idea how this will all get covered in 30 mins. Directors cut 60 mins version please.

We'll see what the 5 Live F1 team can do, David!

    So under investigation...

    • Vettel and Leclerc (collision)
    • Hamilton and Albon (collision)
    • A number of drivers (not yet known which ones) for using DRS at the wrong moment

  6. How close is Vettel to an F1 ban?published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

Sebastian Vettel's penalty points currently stands at seven (his two from the United States have been wiped out) and the stewards are looking at his collision with team-mate Charles Leclerc, an incident which ruined both drivers' day.

If a driver hits 12 penalty points over a 12-month period, they automatically trigger a one-race ban.

Here's where the German racked them up:

    Canadian GP: Two points

    British GP: Two points

    Italian GP: Three points

A lovely moment between former Red Bull team-mates Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly as Verstappen gives the Frenchman a big hug of congratulations when they see each other after the race.

Gasly has just collected his second-place trophy and just can't stop smiling. Absolutely brilliant.

  8. A memorable daypublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

That's a career best finish for Pierre Gasly (second), a best of the season for Sainz (fourth) and Raikkonen (fifth), a career best for Antonio Giovinazzi (sixth) too.

At the moment, it's the second best ever finish from George Russell (12th).

  9. The result (well, sort of)published at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

There are quite a few incidents under investigation so, as of right now, this is the result...

    1. Verstappen
    2. Gasly
    3. Hamilton
    4. Sainz
    5. Raikkonen
    6. Giovinazzi
    7. Ricciardo
    8. Norris
    9. Perez
    10. Kvyat
    11. Magnussen
    12. Russell
    13. Grosjean
    14. Albon
    15. Hulkenberg
    16. Kubica

It will not take much for George Russell to be bumped up from 12th into the points. Will it be the first ever F1 point for the young Brit in an extremely tough season for him?

    DNF: Vettel, Leclerc, Stroll, Bottas

Ben:I would be fuming if I was Albon. Expecting a confrontation with Hamilton

Alex Lloyd: Only at Interlagos. Fairly standard race until the very end. What a race, can you imagine what the racing here will be like when they have the 2021 cars and they can get close? It’ll be incredible.

Antony Short: Hamilton what on earth was that, first mistake in a long time, cost Albon a podium

  11. Postpublished at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

You have to just feel sorry for Alexander Albon. In the week when he had his 2020 drive at Red Bull confirmed, he was less than two laps away from his first ever podium, until he got clipped by Hamilton and the resulting spin left him down in 14th.

    Jack Nicholls
BBC Radio 5 Live F1 commentator

Gasly is second! Hamilton finishes in third, he's under investigation but it could even be Carlos Sainz on the podium as he's in fourth. A remarkable Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo!

If Hamilton gets a five-second penalty for that late collision with Albon, he will drop from third to eighth.

  16. Postpublished at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

This could be an absolutely crazy top 10. Both Toro Rossos, both McLarens, both Alfa Romeos in the top 10.

  17. Provisional result (pending Hamilton investigation)published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    1. Verstappen
    2. Gasly
    3. Hamilton
    4. Sainz

    6. Giovianzzi
    7. Ricciardo
