Andrew Priestley: The thing that might save the sprint race spectacle this afternoon given the lack of overtaking opportunities at Imola is the mixed-up grid we have inherited thanks to the rain and all those red flags.
Image source, Getty ImagesThe Ferrari fans of course dominate at their home circuit but there's plenty of support around for the others in today's sprint.
Image source, F1.comHere's how the grid shapes up. Championship leader Charles Leclerc lines up second but a crash in Q2 for Carlos Sainz means he's down in 10th.
Mercedes didn't have the best of days yesterday but will be encouraged by today's final practice, with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finishing first and fourth respectively.
It is a 100km dash around the circuit, where victory will secure the winning driver eight points as well as the place at the front of the grid in tomorrow's grand prix.
The top eight all score points, compared with the top three in 2021.
Yesterday's qualifying determined the grid for today's sprint race.

Hello!
Welcome to our coverage of the first sprint race of the season.
It has been a mixed weekend so far conditions-wise with rain disrupting yesterday's practice and qualifying for today's sprint but final practice earlier today took place under bright sunshine.
The 21-lap race around Imola is due to get under way in just under one hour.
Image source, Getty ImagesJust three races in and the reigning world champion Max Verstappen is playing catch-up in the title race to early leader Charles Leclerc.
Reliability issues haven't helped Red Bull but Verstappen secured his first pole position of the season yesterday to put him in prime position to pick up some big points, starting in today's sprint race.
OK then, we're going to pause our coverage for a bit but will be back at 14:30 BST for build-up to the first sprint race of the season, which starts at 15:30.
See you soon!

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who starts Saturday's sprint race from pole position ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, was seventh fastest.

Practice was run in dry conditions after a rain-affected qualifying at Imola in Italy.

Lando Norris managed to get out right at the end there but it was a session spent in the garage for Daniel Ricciardo and Valtteri Bottas. Not ideal ahead of the sprint race later this afternoon.
But an encouraging session for Mercedes as George Russell finishes fastest and Lewis Hamilton is fourth.

There are definitely a few cars out of position for this sprint race.
