How will Martin Kaymer play his cards today? Will the German know when to fold 'em and when to hold 'em? Kaymer says he will not change his game plan to defend a lead he believes could "vanish" in the final round.
"The biggest challenge is not to get defensive," says Kaymer. "Your game plan changes and you don't swing free.
"I kept it together well. It's nice to have a lead, but it can vanish. If you have a lead of four shots, five shots, six shots... at the end of the day, if you play a golf course like this it can be gone very quickly."
It's always useful to know who is playing when and with whom so here's a selection of today's tee times (all in BST):
17:39 Brendon Todd & Phil Mickelson
18:12 Ian Poulter & Hideki Matsuyama
18:45 Rory McIlroy & Adam Scott
19:51 Justin Rose & Kevin Na
20:13 Brandt Snedeker & Dustin Johnson
20:24 Henrik Stenson & Erik Compton
20:35 Rickie Fowler & Martin Kaymer
Martin Kaymer wobbled slightly on Saturday, the day the revamped Pinehurst course decided to bite back, but he held firm and takes a healthy five-shot lead into the final round. The signs are that this is a man who is unlikely to slip from a winning position but strange things can happen out on the course.
It has, so far, been a wonderful tournament for the 29-year-old who has hit the fairways 83% of the time and the greens on 36 of 54 occasions.
Hello! Happy Father's Day to all the, well, fathers out there and welcome to live text commentary of the final day of the 2014 US Open.
It was 12 months ago that Justin Rose became the first Englishman in 43 years to win the US Open and after watching his ball drop into the 18th hole, he looked skywards and tearfully remembered his late father. There was emotion, last-hole drama and a bucket full of tears.
But what will the abiding memory be of this year's championship? Will it be remembered for Martin Kaymer's demolition of Pinehurst or, perhaps, his final day capitulation when the trophy was his to lose?
"Today is a super important day because we are sons of great men and fathers of beautiful children. So go out on the course and represent your father with everything he taught you. Be the man that you want your children to look up to."
Coach Sean Foley to Justin Rose on the morning of the final day of the 2013 US Open.
