    Lowry -1 (18)

Shane Lowry putts up the hill on 18 and leaves a tap-in for par. His dreams of winning a major will have to wait a little longer but it certainly looks like he has the game to go all the way now. Lowry will rue some moments today but he's been a credit to Ireland and European golf on this brute of a course.

  2. One shot penalty for Johnsonpublished at 01:15 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Oakmont Country Club

"Dustin has been penalised one shot for making his ball move on the fifth. He has finished four under par. That's that."

  3. Johnson gets a penaltypublished at 01:13 British Summer Time 20 June 2016

One stroke added to his score

It will not make a difference now but how controversial could this have been?

We are hearing Dustin Johnson will get a one-stroke penalty as a result of the ball moving before he struck it on the fifth green.

Good job he won by more than one I guess.

The USGA will have questions to answer on their handling of this.

Dustin Johnson is in the scoring hut signing his card. The process seems fluid, certainly not one where controversy looks to be present.

Johnson will move third in the world rankings, above Rory McIlroy.

Former American professional golfer on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

“There are a lot of people who feel Dustin would win a bunch of majors once he won one. Maybe this will take the pressure off Dustin and as he is arguably the most naturally talented American golfer playing now, there is no telling what he can achieve from here.”

    Lowry -1 (17)

So let us be clear. The only way Dustin Johnson can be denied a major title is if he is docked two strokes by the USGA and Shane Lowry eagles the final hole of the week.

Lowry just curled in a cracking par save on 17.

It would be freakish and on this occasion, it's probably safe to say stranger things have never happened.
