Of those among the leaders to have finished their third round, Branden Grace is best placed on one under - putting him five shots off Shane Lowry.

South African Grace shot a four under round three to move into contention, while Australian world number one Jason Day and Americans Bryson DeChambeau and Zach Johnson are all on one over.

  2. Happy Father's Daypublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Ooo, we've spotted a Father's Day placard in the crowd. I'm sure there are a few dads putting their feet up and enjoying a well-earned Sunday in front of the golf today.

    Kids, stick the kettle on.

Those dads will be pleased to know, once this third round is wrapped up, the final day's play is due to get under way at 16:00 BST - so you shouldn't have to move all afternoon.

  3. Landry feeling the nerves?published at 12:36 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Well, Andrew Landry has endured a difficult start today. He's in the bunker again on the 15th and his par-saving attempt shoots wide from about 32 feet. Nerves kicking in?

Sergio Garcia is another who has attracted the sand so far today, he's in the bunker for a second time in as many holes.

Elsewhere, Dustin Johnson sinks a big putt to go three under and put a little bit of pressure back on leader Shane Lowry.

This seems to be the man you're backing to hold on for the US Open crown...

Colin O Brien: -3 or more will win & Lowry is the man to do it - Irish need some luck after the soccer and rugby disappointments.

Mike Collins: If Lowry can stay composed he's got a chance. McIlroy on the other hand seems plagued with demons again, as he was in 2014. Why?

  5. Lowry goes six underpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Well, Shane Lowry has shown no signs of slowing down as he looks to extend his lead heading into the final round.

And the Irishman has doubled his advantage already today. He started Sunday two strokes ahead, but dropped shots from those in contention and a birdie for Lowry has increased that lead to four.

He sits on six under par through 15.

  6. Sand for Sergiopublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Sergio Garcia is forced to play out of the bunker and the Spaniard cleverly catches the edge of the green before the ball trickles down into a promising position on the green.

It was a little too far for Garcia, mind, who doesn't catch the break and he's unable to salvage par with the putt.

  7. Landry drops a shotpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Dustin Johnson has a birdie chance at the 14th, but the American rolls one slightly short up the hill from 15 feet.

That should keep him on two under.

Meanwhile, Andrew Landry drops a shot on the same hole which sends him level with Johnson and the rest of the chasing pack behind Shane Lowry.

  9. Play under waypublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

So we are under way as the leaders attempt to finish their third rounds, and Lee Westwood stays one under for the day, and two under par overall, after his first hole of the morning.

That keeps the Englishman in tied third with two holes to play to complete his penultimate round.

  10. Day six adriftpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

Let's also not write off world number one Jason Day, who is just six adrift.

Johnny Miller famously hit a course-record 63 at Oakmont to come from that far back to win the US Open in 1973.

  12. Sunday morning catch-uppublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

So, Ireland's Shane Lowry is five under par but still has four holes to play on Sunday before starting his final round.

American Andrew Landry is two shots behind with players catching up after storms affected the first day

England's Lee Westwood is a shot back on two under, having played 15 holes, along with second-round leader Dustin Johnson and Spain's Sergio Garcia.

  13. Who will go the distance?published at 11:53 British Summer Time 19 June 2016

It's - hopefully - the final day at Oakmont but there's still a long, long way to go.

The leaders are still to complete their third rounds after a weather-disrupted first day, and then a nervy final round will begin.

Can Ireland's Shane Lowry hold on to his overnight lead? Will we see an English winner in Lee Westwood? Or will one of the Americans in contention last the pace?

Expect the lead to change hands several times throughout today's play.
