McIlroy -2, Watson -1, Matsuyama E (15)
It was two holes to forget for Rory McIlroy as he quickly dropped three shots with a double bogey at the 13th, followed by a bogey at the 14th. But the former world number one is never down for long and he rolls in a seven-footer for a birdie at the 15th.
He held a share of the lead earlier in the day at four under and, after a wobble, is now on two under.
Playing partner Hideki Matsuyama produces a stunning 20-foot putt to par the 15th to stay level, while Bubba Watson remains on one under.
McIlroy on the 16th tee finds the middle of the fairway, accompanied by the sound of a splattering of applause from the locals.
Spieth -1 (17)
Jordan Spieth looks a little fed up. In truth he has done for a few months now.
"FORE", screams the young American as he lampoons a tee shot right on 18. It hits the foot of the stands, that's how right it was.
Spieth will need to grind to stay in red numbers on the last.
Jones -3 (11)
Matt Jones feels a flush punch to the face from the Royal Troon back nine. Those birdies early on are a comfort blanket for the Australian now. He putts in from off the green, an action one would normally celebrate but that's a six on 11 and two shots dropped.
Scotland's First Minister is coming under fierce questioning at Royal Troon.
Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood are all away safely on one. None of them went with driver, it's fairway all the way.
"Play well gents," a starter says to them as the sun beats down and the Firth of Clyde laps with a tranquility to their right.
Lee Westwood is on the course ready to make his bid for a first ever major.
His best ever result at The Open was second place in 2010 at St Andrews.
He is joined by former Claret Jug winners Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els. Both Ernie and lefty have what Westwood can only dream of, an Open win.
Plenty of experience in this playing group.
McIlroy -1 Watson -1 (14)
A huge 344-yard drive from Rory McIlroy lands him closer to the pin than big-hitting Bubba Watson on the 15th.
Bubba boasts the longest average drive today at 341 yards, though, with Rory's average 308 heading into this hole.

Rose -3 (16), Fitzpatrick +2 (12), Willett E (15)
Suddenly - Haydn Porteous aside - there's a chug and a splutter coming from this field. A scan through it shows me Matt Fitzpatrick is back to two over on 13, Danny Willett cannot buy a birdie and hits a wild putt on 15, meaning he can only tap in for par.
Where do we have a steamer through the field while the momentum lulls elsewhere? Justin Rose maybe. He is now three under through 16 after a smart pitch on 15 gave him a close-range putt.
Porteous -6 (8)
Haydn Porteous is running amok here on Scotland's west coast. A long, downhill putt, packed with break... what's the problem? Boom and in she goes.
The South African is six under through eight holes. Just 11 putts needed.
Andrew Johnston has just teed off, but he'd rather you know him as "Beef". So, how did the world number 104 get his nickname?
BBC Radio 5 live had a chat to the Englishman, have a listen here.
McIlroy -1 Watson -1 Matsuyuma E (14)
So, Rory McIlroy has dropped three shots in the past 25 minutes - a double bogey on the 13th is followed by a bogey on the par-three 14th.
As a result he's dropped to one under for the round, five off the lead. McIlroy was tied for top spot two holes ago.
Meanwhile it's birdie for Bubba and par for Matsuyuma.
Daly E (3)
This is just a warning for you all. The item in this image forms a major feature in the design of John Daly's pants today. Just you wait. Just you wait...

Sandy Lyle had one of his unhappiest experiences at an Open Championship as he opened up with a 14-over-par 85.
The 58-year-old, playing in his 41st Open at the age of 58, dropped six shots on his way to the turn in 41.
Starting with a triple bogey seven at the tough 11th, where he drove onto the main Glasgow-Stranraer railway line, he went further off track with eight more shots in as many holes.
"My irons were awful and I didn't make any putts," the 1985 Open and 1988 Masters champion told BBC Sport. "It was just one of those yucky days."

Monster Patrick Shek: 256yds uphill par 4, hit driver it rolled on the green then disappeared. Thought it was off the back.
Matt Chapple: My dad got a hole-in-one on the 16th at Castle Rock playing a Russian Roulette style game and it lost him the match.
Adam Fitzgerald: I boast an amazing array of holes in one all achieved at the intimidating Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf in Exmouth.
Harrington -1 (18), Jones -5 (10)
So five under is the clubhouse lead set by Patrick Reed. Matt Jones is on the same mark but about to embark on the back nine which is giving little up. Jones pushes right on 10 and leaves a horrid up and down. That's wonderful though and he escapes with par. A super chip.
Good work late on by Padraig Harrington. Birdie-birdie-par finish, that's one under and a nice position.
McIlroy -2 (13)
Bubba Watson was flying through seven until a dramatic fall from the lead, but the American lands his tee shot in a promising position on the par-three 14th.
Hideki Matsuyuma follows Watson on to the green, but Rory McIlroy is in the sand.
Faced with a difficult bunker shot, McIlory finds the green but is a long way from the pin.
Daly E (3)
John Daly yesterday. I can tell you today's effort is even better (or worse depending on your profile). I'll have an image soon.
