If you're just coming in from your Saturday medal, you may have missed a bit of history. It's taken 441 majors but finally a man has hit a 62.

Take a bow Branden Grace. The South African even had the luxury of just needing a par on the last.

Have you gone low today, set a new course record, or maybe it's been the most miserable round ever. #bbcgolf or text 81111 with your best and worst.

  2. Trouble!published at 17:24 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    McIlroy (-3 after 9)

Rory McIlroy has gone bunker to bunker on the 10th fairway and he's now in major trouble. This could be his tournament done right here. Meanwhile back on the eighth it's Matt Kuchar...

    Connelly (-3), Ramsay (-2)

Austin Connelly has lost his way a touch after that blistering start - birdie-eagle if you remember - the Canadian needs a spark. This could do it! A cigarette lighter of an approach gets the crowd around the ninth green excited... this is close. Very close. The ball doesn't drop for a second eagle of his round, though, a nudge of the putter seeing him out in 32.

  4. Koepka holing vital puttspublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Koepka (-5 after 8)

Brooks Koepka is holing vital putts, he's got his putter hot and will hoping for a good back nine.

  5. The wait...published at 17:19 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Poulter (-2 after 8)

    Ian poulterImage source, .

We've dug out an Ian Poulter oldie for this image. And as he bids to end a 17-year wait as a pro for a major, why not?

Poults has managed eight top-10 finishes in golf's big four events, with his best being a second-place finish here at Royal Birkdale in 2008.

Poulter, who took up the game aged four, produced a gritty round on Friday. Can he ditch the grinding and find the flair needed to chase birdies on the back nine of this receptive course today?

  6. Bogey-birdie!published at 17:18 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Koepka (-8 after 8) Poulter (-2 after 8)

Ian Poulter on eight, needs this long putt for par. He found the rough on his way here and has paid for it since on this par four - averaging 4.2 strokes. He can't make it, the line is off. To rub salt into the wound, playing partner Brooks Koepka puts a birdie roll away. Little emotion shown, Koepka is hot.

    Spieth (-8), Kuchar (-6)

Not been much between Matt Kuchar and Jordan Spieth today. The American pair both lash perfect drives down the eighth, both balls kissing fairway as they sail over the bunkers guarding the landing area.

  8. McIlroy makes itpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    McIlroy (-3 after 9)

Lots of break on it but it's in. Rory McIlroy clenches a fist as he makes the turn at two under for the day and three under overall. His magnificent approach into the ninth is rewarded.

  9. McIlroy chancepublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    McIlroy (-2 after 8)

    David Leadbetter
Leading golf coach on BBC Radio 5 live

It is a vital putt. Jordan Spieth is playing well up ahead and Rory will have an eye on the leaderboard. He will not want to give this one away.

  10. McIlroy chance...published at 17:14 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    McIlroy (-2 after 8)

    Iain Carter
BBC Sport golf correspondent at Royal Birkdale

It looks like it will be a birdie for McIlroy on nine to make up for those dropped shots on seven and eight. He arrives on the ninth green as he walks, jaunty stride, to his ball which is around five feet away. This is vital now. He thrives on momentum.

  11. DJ could've gone lowerpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Johnson -3

BBC Radio 5 live's Connor McNamara followed world number one Dustin Johnson as the American posted a six-under 64 to climb to three under.

  12. WATCH: 'It's wonderful!' - McIlroy birdies the fourthpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

  13. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Spieth (-8), Kuchar (-6)

Matt Kuchar joined Spieth on the dancefloor, but was more shy bloke stood on the edges than attention-seeker busting out the moves in the middle.

However... he nearly steals the show. Kuchar's long putt just comes short on the left lip.

Spieth's turn... less than 15 foot away, I'd guess. His ball does not touch the sides. The American is two shots clear!

  14. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Spieth (-7), Kuchar (-6)

Jordan Spieth's third round has been steady rather than spectacular. In terms of scoring at least. His approach play has been superb.

On the par-three seventh, he nails his tee shot. Another birdie chance coming up...

  15. Kuchar the ballerpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Kuchar (-6 after six)

    Matt KucharImage source, Getty Images

We've dug this image of Matt Kuchar out from 1999 when he looked somewhat different.

Now, Kooch is a baller. Give him a ball of any kind and he's game. His father was a number-one ranked tennis doubles player in Florida and when Kooch and his wife Sybi entered the National Husband/Wife Doubles Championship in 2009, they won it.

It probably helps that his wife was a celebrated player at university but still, kudos to Kooch too.

    Spieth (-7), Kuchar (-6)

Meanwhile, back on six... Matt Kuchar ends up in a divot created a few moments ago by Brooks Koepka, short of the green. Not the nicest lie for the affable American, his ball teetering on the edge of carved grass. He just gets on with the job, however, knocking up close and sinking his par putt.

Jordan Spieth has reached the green in two, but sees his putt wander off quicker than an excited dog let off the leash. Plenty of arm-waving from the frustrated Texan.

  17. Bogey for McIlroypublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    McIlroy (-2 after 8) Koepka (-4 after 7) Poulter (-3 after 7)

We did tell you Rory McIlroy had come up short of the green on eight and his pitch up is loose and off line, rolling 12ft to the right of the pin.

Ian Poulter goes close for birdie on seven but settles for par, the putt close enough to draw groans from those watching. Brooks Koepka flops from the sand but got too much on it, leaving 15ft for par which is beyond him.

Back to Rors, can't give another one away can he? You bet. Those back-to-back dropped shots playing a sweet music in the ears of Jordan Spieth.

  18. A great leaderboardpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

Surely this is the kind of leaderboard all golf fans want to see.

The world number one, defending champion, US Open champion, two superstars and a man with a record 62 featuring on it.

Oh yeh and Matt Kuchar's on there too

    Connelly (-3), Ramsay (-2)

Austin Connelly doesn't look like the sort of guy who ever lets things get to him. Even missing the last train home from a night out would probably be greeted with an emotionless expression. The little-known Canadian is through the back of the par-three seven, unable to convert his birdie attempt from the fringe and having to walk off with a par.

  20. Rory slows...published at 17:01 British Summer Time 22 July 2017

    Koepka (-5 after 6) Poulter (-3 after 6) McIlroy (-3 after 7)

When Brooks Koepka dropped a shot on one he obviously went and had a little word with himself because he's now birdied three, four and five before making par on six. Ian Poulter alongside him has one birdie to show, cancelling out his own bogey on one.

They take to the seventh and Koepka's adrenaline gets the better to him as he goes through the green and into sand. Poulter now, 156 yards, swings through and holds his stance, rock solid to leave 20ft for birdie. Rory McIlroy slowing in his own charge as he comes up short of the eighth green.
