Whatever happens this has to go down as one of the great Open Sundays.

Francesco Molinari leads on seven under.

SIX players are just one shot behind.

  2. Birdie for Kisnerpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    K Kisner -6, K Chappell -6 (14)

A punch of the air from Kevin Chappell. He stays at six under with a good par putt.

Kevin Kisner birdies the hole to putt himself back in that group one behind Molinari.

    This is crazy, crazy stuff.

"Yes, yes, oooooohh." It's almost good from Woods but doesn't quite make it onto the green. The crowd's reaction tells him that.

Now over to our leader, Francesco Molinari... He is still bogey-free. The Italian's ball trickles onto the front of the green.

Francesco Molinari is showing incredible focus out here. He’s got a couple of fans and his first birdie of the day was given a cheer. But it was nothing compared to the one that greeted Tiger's.

    K Kisner -5, K Chappel -6 (13)

Kevin Chappell is battling to save his par on the 14th. After saying hello to some nasty looking gorse bushes he finds the bunker. From there he chips out and leaves himself a tester for par which will keep him one behind Molinari.

  9. Pars for Spieth & Schauffelepublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    J Spieth -6, X Schauffele -6 (13)

A little bit of pressure off Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele now they're chasing the lead again rather than holding it? Spieth scurries a 20-footer up towards the pin and it breaks left a tad too soon, another par for the American.

Schauffele follows suit. On to the par-five 14th...

What a difference a birdie makes. Tiger Woods is marching after his ball again on the 15th after finding the fairway. He's two shots behind the lead of his playing partner Francesco Molinari.

  11. Birdie for Rosepublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    J Rose -6 (18)

Got it! Justin Rose confidently converts his birdie putt for a 69 and a total of six under. Move over Eddie Pepperell, there's another Englishman who is back in the house and taking over as the leader.

    J Rose -5 (17)

What did we tell you! Justin Rose knocks that wedge on the 18th within spitting distance of the hole.

That's for a FOURTH straight birdie on the last and a sniff of the lead...

  13. Molinari takes outright leadpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    T Woods -5, F Molinari -7 (14)

The run of pars is over for Francesco Molinari. It's now birdie-time for the Italian. He hits the front on his own. He's one clear of McIlroy, Chappell, Spieth and Schauffele.

    Is it back on?

Tiger Woods winning The Open would be one of the great sporting comebacks. Here's why...

    Tiger WoodsImage source, BBC Sport
    • 10 years since his last major win
    • 5 years since his last Tour win
    • 71 is his current world ranking
    • 650 was his ranking at the start of the year

The 42-year-old is aiming to win his 15th major title, edging closer to Jack Nicklaus' all-time record of 18.

And for those who love omens... Nicklaus won his 15th major at the Open exactly 40 years ago.

  16. Birdie for Woodspublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    T Woods -5 (14)

Sensible from Francesco Molinari. He rolls the ball up towards the hole. The eagle putt doesn't drop but he should make birdie.

Now over to Tiger for his birdie putt from 20 feet...

He's only gone and holed it! Is a Tiger win back on? He's just one behind.

  17. Par for McIlroypublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    R McIlroy -6 (16)

Another one down for Rory McIlroy as he successfully negotiates the par-three 16th without dropping a shot - always a danger with the Barry Burn lurking.

“He can’t be chipping. I’d get shot at my club for chipping on the green,” says a spectator behind me.

    T Woods -4, F Molinari -6 (13)

Tiger Woods' putt is so far from the flag on the 14th green that he's chipping. It's a double green, sharing with the four hole, and he's far closer to the fourth flag.

His chip isn't great. He's way short and a birdie is no certainty.

Molinari up next for eagle and the outright lead...

  20. Pars for Spieth & Schauffelepublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 22 July 2018

    J Spieth -6, X Schauffele -7 (12)

A thumbs up from Jordan Spieth to his playing partner, that's a beautiful clip in to the pin from his compatriot Xander Schauffele after overcooking the approach

Spieth takes his wedge and stands over his ball like he's about to play a forward defensive. Don't take up cricket, Jordan. That's a bit too weighty.

He makes it six pars on the bounce to stay at six under. Schauffele scrambles home, too.
