  1. Woods misses chance - 16th halvedpublished at 23:48 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2018

    Mickelson 1 up (16)

No-one has landed a putt all day. This would be HUGE if Mickelson has turn that putter into a wand. He's made a fist of it, but it's not the moment of magic he needs.

That leaves Tiger with a sniff of a half... poor effort.

"I haven't had a good putt yet today," moans Tiger as he has another attempt at it.

    Mickelson 1 up (15)

Mickelson, in a shallow valley, left and short, takes a fullish swing as he chases the pin.

"Darn it," is his assessment. Leftie has flopped it on to the bank and the ball trickles off and is miles short.

Tiger from the sand... plants in his feet, full swipe, decent contact... excellent. Maybe not the spin he expected but he's got a chance.

    Over to Mickelson...

    Mickelson 1 up (15)

Tiger to go first... the wood cover is coming off. He's chasing it... but ends up in a bunker on the right of the green. Heavy, heavy sigh from the 14-time major winner.

Mickelson also has a wood in his hand, and hits a beauty which ends up just short of the pin on the left.

"I don't think it is too far wide," he says.

Phil Mickelson and his caddie - brother Tim - are talking about American football as they stroll down the fairway. Tiger is alone, deep in thought. He's got work to do to get paid today...

Extra side sauce please. Mickelson cuts a beauty of a drive on the 626-yard par five 16th, landing it on the fairway and putting the pressure back on to Woods.

Pressure? Pah. Woods nails his drive.

Both men start striding 300+ yards down the cart path...

Pars have been good enough for Mickelson on all of the three holes which he has won...

    Mickelson 1 up (15)

Woods doesn't stick his ball as close as he'd like, leaving the door ajar for Mickelson.

Leftie, on a bank above the green, has a 64 degree lob wedge in his hands and deftly knocks it to within gimme distance.

Pressure on Tiger... missed it. Phil is one up with three to play.

Uh oh. Mickelson pulls his approach shot on the par-four 15th into the small gathered on the left side of the green. Woods just short...

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (14)

Phil opens up to Tiger as they stroll down the 15th fairway. Like his opponent is his confidence coach.

"I'm trying to be more talkative on this back nine, but I'm not," he almost confides.

"We're going back into our old mode and trying to beat each other's brains in," Tiger replies.

Neither man can afford to miss a fairway now. Mickelson, as he has most of the day, delivers. Tiger follows suit with a low bullet of a drive.

The pair hook up and walk side-by-side down the fairway. Let's listen in...

"Yours wiggled left and mine wiggled right," says Tiger as he dissects those putts on the 14th.

Woods says the hole looked to have "domed" as it would of it had been well used today. "But no-one's playing here!" he exclaims.

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (14)

How did that stay out?! Nobody knows.

Woods teases the birdie putt towards its destination, sauntering up before kicking right and staying up.

"I willed that one out," jokes Mickelson.

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (13)

Mickelson stands over his putt first... about 15 feet I'd say. This would be the longest putt made by either man today...

Looking good, looking good... then it dives left at the last second and hits the lip.

    "Oh man," he sighs.

Tiger has this one for the lead...

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (13)

Both men are playing in the sand as Woods follows Mickelson into the bunker on the right of the fairway.

Tiger goes first, coming up with a pearler which lands past the flag and goes into reverse. He's about 10 feet away.

What can Phil come up with? Something equally as good.

    Game on!

Tiger doesn't really do safe does he? He lashes the big dog... and also misses the fairway. More bad news for their charities.

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (13)

Mickelson goads Woods into laying down a side bet. Phil wants to go for the longest drive on the par four 14th.

"Give me 8-1?" is Mickelson's opening gambit.

"8-1 really?!" laughs Woods. "I'll give you 100."

One hundred being $100,000, of course. They settle on a straight $100,000. Then Mickelson misses the fairway...

    Mickelson v Woods A/S (13)

Tiger for a third birdie on the bounce... pushes it inches right of the hole.

That leaves Mickelson putting for the hole. Leftie waves off the advice of his caddie and brother Tim. "I've got this," he says.

He has got it! Mickelson strides after his ball, fist-pumping after watching it disappear underground.
