In the 169th running of the Grand National, Katie Walsh (Ballycasey) and sister-in-law Nina Carberry (Sir Des Champs) will be bidding to become the first female jockey to triumph.
Victory would mirror the plot of National Velvet, the film where Elizabeth Taylor played a young woman who won the big race
Katie, third on Seabass in 2012, told me earlier that she watched the film as a child and dreamed of riding in the race.
"I hope a woman wins some day, I think it will be fantastic for the sport. I hope it’s me or I’m around to see it. It’s just so hard. Everything needs to fall right on the day," she said.
