  2. Ribblesdale Stakes highlights festival's qualitypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Ady Williams
BBC Radio Berkshire at Royal Ascot

The authorities at Royal Ascot aim to get the best jockeys, the best trainers and the best horses here to this meeting.

Look at the front three in the Ribblesdale Stakes. Magic Wand. With a big owner in Michael Tabor and Susan Magnier (the latter was in the Royal Procession on Tuesday).

In second, Wild Illusion, which is owned by Goldolphin, a massive operation. In third, the owner of Sun Maiden is Khalid Bin Abdullah.

The first, second and third in that race and some of the biggest owners in the world.

Another comfortable victory for the Aidan O'Brien-Ryan Moore team as Magic Wand takes the Ribblesdale Stakes.

The Cheshire Oaks winner could only finish fourth in the Oaks at Epsom, but was much too good for her rivals here.

All eyes will now be on Order Of St George in the Gold Cup to see if he can bring up an O'Brien-Moore treble.

The Godolphin team, successful with Masar in the Derby at Epsom earlier in the month, will be hoping for more big-race success in the Ribblesdale Stakes (15:40).

Wild Illusion is the big hope here, having finished second in the Oaks at Epsom for the same William Buick-Charlie Appleby combination that won the Derby the following day with Masar.

  7. Alexandra Burke: 'I think I've run out of luck already'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Ady Williams

Alexandra Burke has been presenting the trophy for the Norfolk Stakes on her first time ever at Royal Ascot.

"It's so nice to be here because usually I am touring or working", she told me. "My friends said I should come and it's a real privilege".

"What is really funny is that I put a bet on Shang Shang Shang, I'm not putting another bet on because I think I have used up all my luck."

The singer and actor added: "Everyone is looking out of this world, and I am getting so much inspiration. I want my wedding to look like this."

Steffi Graf was my favourite interviewee here until now, a joy to speak to.

A little bit further down the grandstand, there is one hell of a party.

Chelsea Grummett, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, is having her hen party at Royal Ascot.

That better be a non-alcoholic drink, because if people are drinking on a hen do then we really have seen everything

"We are here because of everything I've heard about it. we love dressing up and being outdoors on a lovely day".

Her friends are also loving the day. "We love the Queen!" one of them shouts happily.

"It's amazing, we are loving it" she adds "we didn't win on the first race but there are plenty of chances".

  9. 50 up for Moorepublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Frank Keogh
    BBC Sport at Ascot

Jockey Ryan Moore claimed his 50th Royal Ascot win with Hunting Horn, trained by Aidan O'Brien, in the Hampton Court Stakes.

The son of 2012 Derby winner Camelot appeared to relish the fast going and was a convincing winner from Crossed Baton.

Moore has been top jockey at the meeting seven times in the last eight years, and this second win of the 2018 fixture (after Kew Gardens on Wednesday) puts him one behind Frankie Dettori for this year.

  10. Did you know?published at 15:17 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

The Queen’s representative at Ascot, the Duke of Norfolk, was taken aback to read in the editions of The Times and the Daily Telegraph on 27 April 1971 that hot pants would be allowed in the Royal Enclosure.

The following day, that mistake was corrected in no uncertain terms.

It's enough to give a Duke a heart attack...

Key Victory looks a leading player for the Godolphin team in the Hampton Court Stakes (15:05).

Ridden by William Buick for trainer Charlie Appleby, he was a decent seventh in the French Derby after an impressive victory at Newmarket.

Appleby also saddles Nordic Lights, with James Doyle on board. Fellow Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor runs National Army, the mount of Christophe Soumillon.

  15. A boost for Royal Ascot's international claimspublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Tim Dellor
    BBC Berkshire at Royal Ascot

There were quite a few hoping Shang Shang Shang would win that race.

The Royal Ascot management love an overseas winner because it helps them attract the best horses on the planet.

In future years, if they can prove that international horses can make the journey and win here in Berkshire, then it should help the festival thrive.

Joel Rosario just got the winner home from Pocket Dynamo.

Ward has a knack with juveniles - this was the seventh time a two-year-old racehorse had triumphed for him at the royal meeting.

American trainer Wesley Ward will look to add to his tally of Royal Ascot winners with Shang Shang Shang in the opening Norfolk Stakes (14:30).

Shang Shang Shang could get the day off to a bang as the sprinters do battle over five furlongs, and has been well backed during the week.

Konchek is respected for sprint specialist Clive Cox, while there will be a few corks popping if Vintage Brut can clock up a third straight win.
