  12. A Plus Tard seeks Festival successpublished at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

    Novices' Handicap Chase (16:50 GMT)

This is looking like one of the day's most open races but rising star Rachel Blackmore could be close on A Plus Tard for trainer Henry de Bromhead.

Blackmore is aiming to become the first female champion jockey in Ireland and her mount, who has shown plenty of improvement this year, is among the leading challengers.

Fellow Irish challenger Cubomania, from the Gordon Elliott yard, could be a danger.

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

BBC racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght on tomorrow's weather risk: "The risk from the wind is a bit of everything. They've got to look at animals running and being hit by gusts of wind.

"But there are 70,000 spectators here with quite a lot of temporary accommodation.

"There are lots of tents and structures so it could be extremely dangerous."

  16. We would stage whole card on Saturday'published at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

More from Ian Renton, who confirms the meeting would be extended to Saturday if tomorrow's card did not go ahead.

At the 2008 Festival, Wednesday racing was called off because of high winds, with races rescheduled to bumper cards on the Thursday and Friday.

"It’s important to let customers and participants know the exact situation as it stands," Renton added.

"While our focus is to race tomorrow, should the weather conditions not allow this we would stage the whole of Wednesday’s card on Saturday."

  17. Cheltenham 'optimistic' racing will continue tomorrowpublished at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2019

Ian Renton, regional director for the south west region of The Jockey Club said: “Strong gusting winds are forecast for the area on Wednesday, but their precise strength and location are not possible to predict in advance.

"We are currently looking at forecasts of gusts in excess of 45 mph, which may present challenges out on the track and around the site, dependent on their direction.

“We remain optimistic and we will assess the situation in the morning, working with our team, forecasters, the British Horseracing Authority and our Safety Advisory Group, in order to make a decision about whether racing goes ahead as planned."
