That was a hard-fought race with two classy mares.

Colreevy was up there all the way.

Mark Walsh didn't want to let Paul Townend have it all his own way but it was a great finish.

  2. Blackmore collects top jockey trophypublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

She made it! The sort of random, impromptu moment which kind of sums the times we are in.

Rachael Blackmore runs through the televison set-up, skips around a couple of plinths and dashes up to the winners' podium to collect the winning jockey's statue from AP McCoy.

Lovely moment for Blackmore, who is the first women to finish as the Festival's leading rider.

Rachael Blackmore is bolting it back to the paddock - because she is going to collect the trophy for top jockey from the legendary AP McCoy in front of the television cameras.

What a moment that will be for the 31-year-old Irish rider.

Another win for the Irish continues their domination at the Festival. If you're British then look away now... the Irish are leading 22-5. The Prestbury Cup was never a contest.

  6. Colreevy wins it!published at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

    Mares Chase (16:15)

Another cracking finish! Colreevy sticks on the gas in the final few furlongs to hold off Elimay.

Whichever one edged it, Willie Mullins was going to be celebrating. That moves him within one more win of Henry de Bromhead in the race for the top trainer prize going into the last.

Oh no! Zambella falls at the third-to-last. Fingers crossed there are no injuries. Still Elimay and Colreevy locked in a two-way battle at the front....

Colreevy piles over the ditch with supreme confidence. She's leading the field, with Elimay alongside. Shattered Love, Cut The Mustard and Salsaretta in a pack of three behind.

Rachael Blackmore, already assured of finishing as the Festival's top jockey, is at the back of the field on Cabaret Queen.

Looks like she might pull up... she has. Blackmore's sensational week is over.

    Mares Chase (16:15)

Off we go. Everyone over the first safe and sound. Moyhenna didn't look too comfortable though and is already pulling up the rear.

And a win here for Willie Mullins would mean the fight for the leading trainer prize is still alive going into the final race...

It is the inaugural running of this race so history beckons for someone here.

Willie Mullins has been the king of the Mares' Hurdle since they were introduced and he has good chances with both Colreevy and Elimay.

The latter was second to Ryanair Chase winner Allaho in Thurles in January and could be be the better of the two.

Magic of Light for Jessica Harrington was runner-up to Tiger Roll in the 2019 Aintree Grand National and is not without a chance but might prefer further.

But we're not done yet. Oh no. The penultimate race of the Festival is coming up...

  15. Postpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

That final quote is a heavy dose of realism. The Festival - as sport has generally - is providing a positive distraction for plenty of us in these awful times and it has been easy to forget sometimes that Cheltenham has been far from normal this week.

Well done to everyone involved for being able to give us something to cheer.

Sure Henry will be able to celebrate his triumphs at home in some style!

  16. 'An incredible week'published at 16:09 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Gold Cup-winning trainer Henry de Bromhead has been reflecting further on a dream week for his stable on 5 Live:

"It's incredible, amazing. Mind-boggling for me. Just an incredible week but it is down to the team, they work so hard and the jockeys. We are very fortunate.

"It's a different experience this year but it is great to be here.

"Both horses got a dream run. Minella Indo is a real stayer and A Plus Tard has a turn of foot. But after the last I thought Al Boum Photo might beat both of them.

"Minella Indo was just full of himself today and was brilliant.

"I'm driving to Pembroke tonight to get the ferry and home and then quarantine for five days."

  17. The Gold-en rule of respectpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Love this picture - mutual respect between the Gold Cup's first and second finishing jockeys. Jack Kennedy and Rachael Blackmore.

  18. 'A peach of a ride'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Porlock Bay wins Festival Challenge Cup Hunters Chase

Former jockey Will Biddick, speaking to ITV Racing, after earning his first Cheltenham winner as a trainer: "It is so much harder being a trainer! I've been a bag of nerves all day. I was crying as he came up the hill.

"It is unbelievable. Lorc gave him a peach of a ride. Porlock Bay jumped and travelled and was put in the right position by Lorc to finish it off."

  19. 'It's coming home'published at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

De Bromhead celebrates Gold Cup win

Henry de Bromhead might well follow his jockey Rachael Blackmore's individual success by finishing as the Festival's top trainer.

The Irishman is not quite there yet but is within touching distance. Minella Indo's triumph in the Gold Cup was his sixth win this week.

And that win for Lorcan Williams means Rachael Blackmore will finish as the Festival's leading jockey. Incredible achievement.
