Fabian Edwards then rounded off the evening by claiming a dominant win over former two-time middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi.

The 30-year-old Briton is now one win from emulating his older brother Leon by becoming an MMA world champion.

Thibault Gouti kicked off the main card by knocking out England's Kane Mousah in the second round.

Winner of tonight's main event, Fabian Edwards: "After my losses, a lot of people wrote me off, they thought I was finished. But now I'm here, one more fight till I get that gold belt and we make history.”

Middleweight champion Johnny Eblen then said: “I thought it was a pretty good performance. But I’m a much better fighter. It's my belt.”

Gets a bit heated in the cage, but nothing more than a bit of pushing from both men.

So that's one for the diary folks... Bellator was only in Ireland in February but they'll be making a swift return to Dublin's 3Arena for Eblen-Edwards. Bring it on!!

Worth noting, UK has only ever had one Bellator champion in the promotion's history.

That was Liam McGeary way back in 2015. Michael 'Venom' Page had the chance to become UK's first interim champion on home soil last year, but failed.

It's now Edwards' turn to try to write his name into the history books.

After doing his post-fight interview, current middleweight champion Johnny Eblen steps into the cage and faces off with the victor Fabian Edwards.

"That's my belt," Edwards tells the American.

It then gets a little heated, which sets things up nicely as it's then confirmed that Edwards will indeed face Eblen for the Bellator middleweight title - in Dublin on Saturday, 23 September.

It was as comfortable as we thought, we all three judges scoring it 49-46 in favour of Fabian Edwards.

And Fabian Edwards is still wrapped around Gegard Mousasi as the fight comes to an end.

It looks like the Briton has just clinched the biggest win of his career.

If Edwards survives this final round, they believe he's got this.

Fabian Edwards has regained the ascendency, and just to prove it, he flips Gegard Mousasi onto his back. There's only 15 seconds left in the round, but no matter. That may have just clinched the fourth round too.

The crowd is fairly evenly split here between support for Gegard Mousasi and Fabian Edwards.

We're into uncharted territory for Edwards now - he's never been into the fourth round of a fight, while veteran Mousasi has many times throughout his 20-year career.

What effect will it have, if any?

We're into the final two rounds. Fabian Edwards is 3-0 up on the commentary's scorecards.

Fabian Edwards is looking comfortable. Gegard Mousasi is trying to force the issue but Edwards keeps getting joy on the counter.

The veteran looks frustrated in his corner at the end of the round. He has work to do.

The action resumes before the two fighters briefly pause mid-round and touch gloves, as if to reset from what's been a stop-start fight so far. Game on!!
