  1. 'Trying to optimise best of the track conditions'published at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

"That's an absolute disaster for Jaguar, they have absolutely messed this up massively!" said Formula E commentator Jack Nicholls, and he was of course correct.

James Barclay, Panasonic Jaguar team boss said: "It's always tight, you're obviously trying to optimise in group one the best of the track conditions. We need to look at the data - Mitch was ok coming into the final sector and that was why we thought we were fine.

"We tracked the lap all the way through the sectors and coming into the finals sector we looked good on time.

"It's a massive shame given the performance of the car and how well Mitch is going so we need to analyse it and see what's caused it, and we thought we were in the margins so we'll have to see what caught us out in the last sector."

Was it due to the time he left the pits, perhaps?

  2. Hero to zeropublished at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

However, the bigger news of the day is that Jaguar have gone from hero to zero. This morning, championship leader Mitch Evans was the fastest in free practice two, but failed to set a laptime in qualifying after he was timed out.

If this was the elated reaction in the garage in practice, what was the reaction after qualifying I wonder...

I'm sure that mouse can be fixed... or replaced.

  4. Too close to callpublished at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

How tight is the grid at the moment? McNish says: "It's a very very tight margin and that's the thing at the moment - you can see just by qualifying if you're a tenth up or a tenth down it can have a 10-place grid effect which then obviously impacts on your championship.

"I suppose from the overall championship perspective Lucas (Di Grassi) being in group one is a good point because that means you're in the top six but it's going to be a bit of a fight today that's for sure."

  6. Track conditions?published at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

Ordinarily it's obviously hot in the desert, but it is cold in the morning at the Circuit Moulay El Hassan in Marrakesh. According to Audi team boss and former F1-driver Allan McNish, it's thermals weather in the morning, and the Scot didn't pack for the cold. So it must be cold.

How does that affect the car and handling? Final practice and qualifying took place this morning, and the race will take place in hotter temperatures, which will affect the tyres.

He says: "It's having an effect because it affects the tyres and in the race it will affect the requirement to think about the battery temperature as well which suddenly gets reduced a little bit."

  7. A close qualifyingpublished at 13:20 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

DS Techcheetah's Antonio Felix Da Costa took pole position by an impressively close margin of 0.069 secs to Max Guenther.

He said: "That lap was good - you always leave a bit of lap time here and there and we're here watching the other guys and they're going quicker here and there and it was super tight between Andre (Lotterer) Max (Guenther) and myself.

"Just really pleased, you know I've had a couple of not-so-good qualifying and to come back with a pole position is... I'm really happy with that!"
