    Q3: England 32-32 New Zealand

It's nervy stuff in Cape Town. England have 15 minutes to get themselves into the final.

However, as we did in earlier stages of the tournament we can not have draws here in the semi-final so we will have extra time if things are level after 60 minutes.

    Q3: England 32-32 New Zealand

Huge tip from Jade Clarke to win the ball back and England will have to be quick about this to get back level after 45 minutes.

Quickly to Helen Housby on the edge of the circle, she goes for goal and misses but there's a contact call and she has another go. No mistake this time.

Well, you can't take your eyes off it, folks.

    Q3: England 31-32 New Zealand

Less than a minute to go. Can England find something to get themselves back on level terms at the end of this third period?

New Zealand have 30 seconds to get to goal and take a two-goal lead into the final period.

    Q3: England 29-31 New Zealand

Oh Kelly Jury. She flies in on Nat Metcalf's pass and manages to get the tip. New Zealand race up the court and that is the first time the Silver Ferns have scored back-to-back goals since the very early stages of this quarter.

    Q3: England 28-28 New Zealand

Less than five minutes to go in this third quarter and we remain completely level.

This match has been an absolute grind for both teams.

    Q3: England 27-27 New Zealand

England really living on the edge of the three second rule.

Another England change - Fran Williams is coming on for Layla Guscoth at goal defence. She made a huge difference when she came on against Australia on Thursday so let's see what impact she can make here.

England Head Coach Jess Thirlby speaking to BBC TV:

"Margins are very slim, we expected that. Really pleased we fixed up some of our attacking conversions.

"New Zealand were excellent defensively in that first quarter, good we managed to keep the ball, we knew trying to have possession was going to be a grind. We just need to stay confident."

On the lack of accuracy in the circle so far:

"I trust in Ellie [Cardwell] and Helen [Housby], very difficult to come off a game where you only miss one shot. Expectations are naturally very high, but I think it is there for the rest of the side to step up."

On the introduction of Jade Clarke:

"We just want Jade to do what she does best. She is great with the ball in attack and I think it will help tighten up against New Zealand in that centre and wing defence area."

    Q3: England 25-25 New Zealand

A lot of contact being pulled at the moment.

A cheeky bounce pass from Gina Crampton as New Zealand quickly take their centre pass to goal and we go goal for goal.

  9. Postpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Q3: England 22-22 New Zealand

Error from England as Nat Metcalf slings it over a third.

The Roses peg New Zealand right back, though, and draw the mistake.

But then Helen Housby is pulled for contact on Kelly Jury! A bit 50/50 there I think we could've played advantage and just like that the Silver Ferns are back level.

    Q3: England 22-20 New Zealand

    Eeeek!

A first miss from Ameliaranne Ekenasio. She loves that high shot but this time it doesn't pay off and Geva Mentor snatches away the rebound.

A two-goal advantage early doors for the Roses.

  12. 'Mentor and Guscoth flying for England'published at 10:58 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Ama Agbeze
Former England captain on BBC TV

New Zealand need an injection of speed.

At the moment they are trying to move the ball around but it is just slow.

The defensive pair of Guscoth and Mentor are flying; they are instinctively reacting to one another, covering each other's backs.

Just the one England change to report.

Jade Clarke is on at centre, can she bring some experience to the attack end?

    Ama Agbeze
Former England captain on BBC TV

England have had lots of possession and worked so hard, but attacking-wise they seem to be getting caught close together and become unstuck.

Then you felt momentum occasionally shift and New Zealand ticking away at the score board.

That's what they do so well, they always keep themselves in the game.

  16. Can Pitman be England's super sub once again?published at 10:54 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Jodie Gibson
England defender speaking on BBC TV

Bringing Chelsea Pitman on in wing attack was key against Australia, she just brought something different to Metcalf.

She is a magician with the ball, she finds spaces in that circle and combines so well with Helen Housby, Eleanor Cardwell and just creates so many actions in there.

    She was the difference maker.

  17. 'I know I can do my job and put the ball in the net'published at 10:53 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    BBC Sport

England shooter Eleanor Cardwell speaking to BBC TV:

"I think we just need to keep it calm and connected all the way through the court and celebrate everything good that we are doing. I think we are lacking that at the minute so we need to pick that up in the second half."

On the lack of accuracy at the post so far:

"We are playing against the world number two, so we need to give them that respect. But I've just got to turn and nail them. I know I can do my job and put the ball in the net."

    HT: England 20-20 New Zealand

New Zealand have been a lot more clinical with their shots while England are having to be very patient in getting that ball in the net.

Patience is great but those moves are tiring and as the game goes on they will get more and more difficult to pull off.

Are we going to see some changes on either side? There haven't been any yet.

    Pamela Cookey
    Former England shooter

You can just see the Roses all coming on top of each other in attacking areas.

Allison is going into the same spaces as Housby and that is playing into the hands of New Zealand, making them easier to mark.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Q2: England 20-20 New Zealand

    Yes they can!

New Zealand manage to work it to goal and Maia Wilson sinks her 13th goal of the match.

Once again we are all level.
