Quote MessageIt is more difficult when you play your home county. I managed Fermanagh and played for them for years and my family are still up there. But at this stage people realise that it's business

Monaghan v Fermanagh (19:00 BST)
Martin McHugh
BBC pundit
Quote MessageThis is a massive year for Monaghan and I'm looking forward to seeing them. I feel this Monaghan team has underachieved but they have a brilliant goalkeeper, the best defence and now three quality forwards.
Monaghan v Fermanagh (19:00 BST)
I don't believe it! There is strong speculation that the teams are going to play as selected.
Monaghan named an experienced team with Ballybay's Dessie Ward their only championship debutant.
Conor Murphy is Fermanagh's sole debutant although Cian McManus and Kane Connor will be making their first championship starts.
With Pete McGrath without several experienced campaigners, the Erne county have only seven starters from last summer's qualifiers defeat by Mayo.
Monaghan: R Beggan; F Kelly, D Wylie, R Wylie; C Walshe (capt), V Corey, N McAdam; K Hughes, K O'Connell; G Doogan, S Carey, D Ward; C McCarthy, J McCarron, C McManus.
Fermanagh: T Treacy; M Jones, C Cullen, C McManus; A Breen, R McCluskey, CP Murphy; E Donnelly, L Cullen; B Mulrone, R Lyons, P McCusker; K Connor, Sean Quigley, T Corrigan.

Matt: Ulster championship starts this evening can Fermanagh shock Monaghan? Probably not.
Ruairi: Fermanagh for the upset today me thinks. Big Sean Quigs to score about 2-5.
Conor Mallon: Key Man: Kieran hughes, Score Prediction: monaghan by 6/7.

Quote MessageMonaghan, Donegal and Tyrone are way ahead of the other teams in Ulster
Monaghan v Fermanagh (19:00 BST)
Quote MessageIt's a big test for us. We appreciate that. But we too have a lot of very high-quality players. If we play to our potential, we will be very, very competitive.

Quote MessageMonaghan are the best team in Ulster in my opinion. From reading between the lines Fermanagh aren't going well. They didn't go well in the league and then lost a few players with injuries and players leaving. They have a small pick so I expect an easy enough victory for Monaghan.

A comfortable Monaghan win in the minor match at Clones.

Monaghan v Fermanagh (19:00 BST)
Another Ulster Football campaign starts with a derby at Clones as Monaghan, strongly fancied to lift the title, host a under-strength Fermanagh side who suffered relegation to Division Three in the Spring.
Monaghan's recent Ulster triumphs back in 2013 and 2015 increased their haul of Anglo-Celt Cup triumphs to an impressive 16 - second in the roll of honour behind Cavan's 37 titles.
In contrast, Fermanagh are the only Ulster county never to have lifted the title with final appearances in 1914, 1935, 1945, 1982 and 2008 the closest the Erne County has come to Anglo-Celt glory.
Monaghan are red-hot favourites but Fermanagh boss Pete McGrath has insisted in the run-up to this evening's game that his side are capable of causing a big surprise.
Let the hostilities begin.
