With a few gaps on the grip, Supersport Race 2 restarts.

Michael Dunlop, whose has had a pretty mediocre day by his high standards, takes an early advantage after a brilliant start but Hickman soon powers past the Northern Irishman.

We're hearing that Supersport Race 2 is going to be restarted and that it will be over a full distance of six laps. There will be a one-lap warm-up apparently. That's what Radio Ulster's Adrian Coates has been told anyhow.

The action has stopped midway through the second lap of Supersport Race 2 as the marshals wave the red flag. We're not quite sure what the problem is. We'll inform you as soon as we get any details.

Just to recap, Peter Hickman had a 2.7 second lead over William Dunlop after lap one.

Dunlop is a couple of feet ahead of Anstey at the end of the opening circuit with Lee Johnston, Christian Elkin and Michael Dunlop completing the top six.

Pole setter Peter Hickman has another opportunity to win his third race of the day as Supersport Race 2 gets under way.

Dean Harrison and Conor Cummins are both non-starters and that man Hickman has a healthy lead over William Dunlop and Bruce Anstey midway through the first lap.

Kiwi Anstey is a famously laidback character but even he sounds thrilled with that Blue Riband Superbike victory at Dundrod.

"The whole package is just an awesome job. Clive (Padgett) has just put forward an awesome package with that bike and that was a pretty awesome race with Hickman," says the 48-year-old Wellington man.

Pretty awesome all round then Bruce.

Forty-eight-year-old Bruce Anstey refuses to be denied as he pips Hickman to clinch the 13th Ulster Grand Prix win of his career.

That's the biggest cheer of the day as Anstey crosses the finishing line to win the big one by 0.20 of a second.

Anstey has been on the podium at the Ulster Grand Prix for each of the last 16 years. He set two lap records in that race although Dean Harrison went even faster on lap four.

Harrison's lap record helps him earn the last podium position as Kneen, Cummins and Derek Sheils complete the top six.

Peter Hickman has made a brilliant move at Jordan's Cross to regain the lead over Anstey as they complete the penultimate lap in the blue riband event.

Harrison has moved into third spot ahead of Kneen, with Cummins in fifth.

But 48-year-old Anstey edges ahead of Hickman although it's still a very tight fight between the top two as they complete four laps.

Dean Harrison has just broken Anstey's short-lived lap record although the Bradford rider remains in fifth spot.

We're also hearing that Michael Dunlop has just retired.

Peter Hickman is on course for his third victory of the day as he leads Bruce Anstey after three laps.

However, veteran Anstey has just produced a lap record for the Superbike glass by producing a circuit of 134.396mph.

Conor Cummins is in third ahead of his fellow Isle of Man rider Dan Kneen as Dean Harrison and Michael Dunlop complete the top six.

We're under way in the big race of the race....the Ulster Grand Prix Superbike race which is over seven laps. Peter Hickman is already ahead from Conor Cummins and Dean Harrison. Michael Dunlop down in seventh or eighth place.

Doctor Fred McSorley is on medical duty for the final time at a road race meeting before his retirement although he will have a few more flying doctor outings at upcoming short-circuit meetings.

Fred's a popular figure with the riders and fans having worked for many years alongside his late medical colleague Dr John Hinds.

Dr McSorley's son Allister will be heading road racing's medical team from now on.

Davy Morgan is thrilled after his lightweight triumph.

"Coming round on the last lap, there were so many people waving at me and it was all a bit humbling," says the Saintfield man.

"This means a lot. You never know whether these little bikes are going to hang together to get the distance."

Paul Owen didn't realise he had finished second after calculating that he had been in third spot.

He is suitably thrilled to be informed of his runner-up spot by Radio Ulster.

And we have our first local winners of the day as Saintfield rider Davy Morgan and Ballymoney man Paul Robinson take the wins in the lightweight/ultralightweight class.

Morgan finished 4.5 seconds ahead of 45-year-old Welsh rider Paul Owen and Scotsman Callum Laidlaw while Robinson was only 0.20 seconds ahead of Christian Elkin in the 125s with Joey Thompson completing the podium positions.

Suddenly with the 250cc race seemingly in the bag, Kernohan retires at the end of lap three. He was over eight seconds ahead of Davy Morgan.

The Ballymena man had his hand up in the air as he slowed down and pulled into the paddock.

Morgan now leads with Welsh man Paul Owen second overall. This is proving a race of attrition.

Ballymena man Neil Kernohan has a big lead over Saintfield rider Davy Morgan in the 250cc race by the third lap after early leader Bruce Anstey's retirement because of apparent bike problems.

In the 125cc class, Paul Robinson has a healthy lead over Christian Elkin.

This is a five-lap race.

Next it's the 250cc and 125cc machines on the grid as we have the ultralightweight/lightweight race.

And we're off.

Bruce Anstey is in this one, as is Gary Dunlop, the son of the late Joey Dunlop. Gary was fourth in this class last year.
