As Dean Harrison said 45 minutes ago, "Peter Hickman is on fire" and the Lincolnshire man just refuses to yield as he fights back on the final lap to edge out Anstey.

The duo swapped the lead on a couple of occasions on the final circuit but Hickman is ahead at the finish as he clinches his second victory of the day.

Lee Johnston, after breaking his back after suffering other injuries at the Isle of Man TT two months ago, passes Harrison on the final lap to complete the podium positions.

    What a race!

  7. Supersport Race 1 up nextpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

Supersport Race 1 is up next.

New Zealander Bruce Anstey won the class last year and he will be keen for a victory after not competing in the opening Superstock race.

  8. Happy Hickman atones for 2016 retirementpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 12 August 2017

Peter Hickman took an early three-second lead in last year's Superstock race but retired before the end of the first lap.

"It's great to get the win after what happened last year," says a delighted Hickman.

"I got a good start and got away. I wanted to be out front and to be able to pick my lines because there are a few wet patches about and it is a little bit tricky in places."

Runner-up Harrison admits he had no answer to Hickman's pace.

"Peter just had that little edge on me and it was enough to get a gap. Peter is just on fire at the moment so to be that close to him I am happy enough."
