    Donegal are the 2018 Ulster SFC champions and there's no doubt that they deserve it.

    The Leinster and Ulster champions will meet in the first match of the Super 8s. Assuming Dublin get past Laois today, a Dublin-Donegal opener is a mouth-watering prospect.

    A championship with a few drubbings, a few shocks, a giant killing and a Donegal win. Onwards to the 2019 Ulster Senior Football Championship.

    We were beaten by a better team. We didn't perform anywhere near the level we are capable of and nerves got the better of us at the start. We had to go for it in the second half. Seamus Quigley was fully fit but we wanted to go for a bit more mobility in the full-forward line. The big thing today was our inability to shut Ryan McHugh down.

    It's fantastic to have another chance at Ulster. It's my fourth medal and i'm absolutely delighted. We had a young team and it was a matter of blooding them and showing them that we can compete in Ulster every year. it's great to see youth coming through, us older guys are happy to see that because we need to see them coming through. We have a conveyor belt of talent in Donegal. This team can go on, we've shown the football we can play.

    Donegal are fantastic to watch. They have young players coming through to complement the older more experienced hands in the squad. They have proven themselves the best team in Ulster even if they haven't come up against the counties most of us would consider the other best teams in the province, Tyrone and Monaghan.

    Donegal had a reputation for stifling players but Declan Bonner's great achievement as manager has been to encourage players to express themselves. There is still a certain amount of solidity about them but the team which was formerly known as defensive look very comfortable in their new role as entertainers.

    Donegal head into the Super 8s where some big challenges await. Make no mistake though, they will go into any game with a belief that they have the personnel and the system to match anyone.

    Time will tell on that one. But lets allow them to enjoy today, shall we? All we can say is, this side look a far cry from the side that was hammered by Tyrone in the semi-final last year.

    It's the back door for Fermanagh, they've thrown everything at Ulster but today proved to be one step too far for the Ernemen.

    Fermanagh have had a good year - beating Monaghan was maybe their Ulster final. They may find it hard to recover but they must try and regroup as they are only one match away from a place in the Super 8s.

    A job well done by Bonner, they've won an Ulster final by double scores - that's no easy feat.

    Michael Murphy will surely as this point be going over his trophy-lifting technique in his head.

    It's the big forward who just runs away from four defenders and fists over, another high scoring win for Donegal.

  13. 'Dublin still the benchmark'

    If you had told Donegal before the start of the Championship that they would win Ulster without facing and beating either Monaghan or Tyrone they would scarcely have believed you. Now they have bagged the Ulster title they will concentrate on targeting Dublin. That is the really big test for them as Dublin are still the team to beat in Ireland. Will they be as open against Dublin in Croke Park? We'll have to wait and see.

  14. Quigley giving Fermanagh something to smile about

    Seamus Quigley scores a phenomenal point, winning a high ball turning onto his unfavoured left and swinging it over the bar.

    There are Fermanagh fans headed for the exits but those still in the ground will surely have appreciated that one.

    Cian Mulligan goes up the other end and slots one over the bar, calm as you like.

    Quigley adds a long range free with about a minute of regular time remaining.

  15. Donegal far from a two man attack

    Thompson adds his third of the day before Jamie Brennan finally receives some reward for all his hard yards as he points.

    Donegal looking good and it's not Murphy and McBrearty terrorising Fermanagh either. It's the entire team, which bodes well as they look towards the Super 8s.

  16. Donegal ticking over

    With just over 10 minutes to go Ciaran Thompson re-establishes Donegal's eight point lead. They are not allowing short kick-outs in this half, pushing five players into the full forward line and it pays off as Michael Langan claims the kick out but fires wide.

  18. Jones sent off

    Ryan Jones is sent off for a second yellow, this time a flailing arm on Paddy McGrath. His tackle was where the ball was but as McGrath ran through at speed his arms goes up around the neck. Seems a tad harsh but a big blow to Fermanagh.

    Moments earlier his brother Conall had added a point.

  19. Fermanagh pooch-ing forward

    Biggest cheer of the half so far goes to a dog that has just run onto the pitch. The pup is the first thing to go into Donegal's net today before Sean Quigley shows his soft side by carrying it off the field and handing it to a young spectator.
