    Fermanagh 0-01 Donegal 1-02

Michael Langan puts the Tir Chonaill men in front for the first time before they pounce on the counter-attack with Paddy McBrearty and Ryan McHugh, who fists over Cadden allowing Eoghan Ban Gallagher to pop the ball into the empty net.

  2. Mac Niallais strikes from rangepublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Fermanagh 0-1 Donegal 0-1

Odhran Mac Niallais responds for Donegal with a great strike from distance. His ability to strike from way out probably one of the reasons why Declan Bonner opted to start with the Gaoth Dobhair man against this suffocating Fermanagh defence.

  3. Off the markpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Fermanagh 0-1 Donegal 0-0

And after seven minutes we have our first point. Sean Quigley with the free, dead centre, just in front of the 45.

His 231st Fermanagh point, and probably his favourite one to date.

  6. Early nervespublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Fermanagh v Donegal

Early nerves perhaps as both side's first efforts are scuffed off the outside of the boot. McBreaty then drops and effort short and into the hands of Patrick Cadden.

Aidan Breen is next to misfire as he goes well wide. Both sides in need of a nerve settler at the moment.

In case you haven’t heard, DUP leader Arlene Foster is attending today’s game in support of her native Fermanagh. Her presence at St Tiernach’s Park has certainly added a little extra intrigue to today’s proceedings – and some extra excitement for the huge number of Fermanagh supporters who have crammed into the ground.

‘Arlene’s Green and White Army’ was one of the chants ringing around the town earlier and no doubt she will get another rendition when she takes her seat before the game begins.

As the old boxing saying goes, ‘styles make fights’ and the same can be applied to today’s final.

Under Declan Bonner, Donegal have developed a myriad of ways to beat teams. The scoring prowess of Michael Murphy and Paddy McBrearty can hurt teams from both long and short range, while the pace and dash of Ryan McHugh and Cian Mulligan can cut through the densest of massed defences.

But Fermanagh have sailed through to only their sixth Ulster final using a disciplined, defensive style that is built upon frustrating their opponents’ attack and punishing turnovers to win low-scoring contests.

What will Rory Gallagher have up his sleeve to counteract his former Donegal players? Will he press on Shaun Patton’s kickouts and risk the Donegal keeper finding players further down field? Also, how will Donegal cope without the reassuring presence of Neil McGee at full-back? Will Fermanagh attempt to target Conall Jones with high balls to the edge of the square? It’s going to be fascinating.

Fermanagh will line out as they did against Monaghan in the semi-final. Seamus Quigley was named as a starter but he is replaced by Ciaran Corrigan.

There are two changes to the team that Donegal has named in the programme. Stephen McMenamin starts and Odhran Mac Niallais comes into the forward line as Caolan Ward and Cian Mulligan drop out.

    Cian Murtagh
BBC Sport NI at St Tiernach's Park

"Hats, headbands, hooters and water” is the shout from the many stall holders lining the hill up to St Tiernach’s Park and it looks as though they’re doing a roaring trade in all three.

One further commodity that they could turn a serious profit from, however, is sunscreen. It is a sweltering day in Clones that feels a lot warmer than the 23C that is forecast and a couple of the punters here already appear to have enjoyed a little more sunshine then they ought to.
