  3. Monaghan are in the Ulster Championship finalpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 17 July 2021

    Armagh 2-21 Monaghan 4-17

Huge credit has to go to both sides in the most difficult of circumstances.

Monaghan, who lost one of their own in Brendan Og Duffy in the past 24 hours, put in a scintillating display in tribute to their Under-20s captain.

Armagh deserve a huge amount of credit for finding their way back into the match despite being eight points down.

Then Conor McManus and Monaghan again, for finding a way to grind out the victory when they looked down and out.

All in one of the hottest days in Northern Ireland's history.

There are tears at full-time and there's no doubt what that means to the entire team and community in Monaghan. That was incredible.

Incredible. Unsurprisingly the crowd here in Newry is weighted in Armagh's favour and my goodness, what a noise to greet that goal.

It should be noted too that this stirring comeback comes amid sweltering conditions, where these players could absolutely be forgiven for showing signs of real fatigue by now.

But Armagh have just chipped and chipped away.

Monaghan are making hard work of this - they keep taking the ball into the tackle. Armagh have got the bit between their teeth and they have the momentum.

Well now the crowd are up. Armagh's goal, at the risk of stating the obvious, was very badly needed as the tit-for-tat scoring of the second half suited Monaghan down to the ground.

Conor Turbitt has been excellent since coming on and, crucially, Aidan Forker's presence has shored up a defence that was creaking at every turn in the first half.

Armagh are back in it! That's exactly what Kieran McGeeney's men wanted!

A long ball is sent forward by Rian O'Neill and Conor Turbitt beats Rory Beggan to the ball to touch the ball home.

He's taken a big hit from the Monaghan goalkeeper as he challenged for the ball but it's got Armagh back in the game!

    What a match!
