    Derrygonnelly 0-3 Kilcoo 3-10

After the tight semi-final encounter between the clubs two years ago, we expected another close game today but it was anything but as Kilcoo crushed Derrygonnelly's dreams of provincial glory by clinching an utterly dominant 3-10 to 0-3 victory.

It will a subdued journey back to the Erne County for the Derrygonnelly faithful methinks.

In contrast, Kilcoo can look forward to their All-Ireland semi-final meeting with St Finbarr's and the chance to get back to another decider at Croke Park and atone for their disappointing defeat by Corofin two years ago.

Matt Gault's excellent match report is available for your perusal here and all that remains for us to say is to wish you a good evening and night as we prepare for the start of a new week.

  3. Shealin Johnston adds third Kilcoo goalpublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-3 Kilcoo 3-10 (full-time)

It didn't materially affect the outcome as Derrygonnelly were long beaten but here's Shealin Johnston firing in Kilcoo's third goal two minutes from the end of normal time.

  4. Kilcoo clinch emphatic 16-point win victorypublished at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-3 Kilcoo 3-10 (full-time)

Paul Devlin and Miceal Rooney add further Kilcoo points in injury-time as they complete an emphatic 3-10 to 0-3 victory. Derrygonnelly gave the Down champions a real test in the provincial semi-final two years ago but today was a completely different affair as the contest was effectively over once Daryl Branagan fired in his goal before half-time. A bitterly disappointing afternoon for the Fermanagh champions as Kilcoo look forward to their All-Ireland semi-final with Cork club St Finbarr's.

  5. Doherty hammers in Kilcoo's second goalpublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

  6. Kilcoo refuse to show mercypublished at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-3 Kilcoo 3-8 (15:45 GMT)

Kilcoo pile on the misery as Ryan McEvoy slots another free. Conall Jones finally ends Derrygonnelly's second-half scoring drought with a free. Further bad news for the Fermanagh side is the announcement of four additional minutes. Rather unnecessary punishment I would contend.

  7. goal

Kilcoo net againpublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 3-7 (15:45 GMT)

This is becoming a painful experience for Derrygonnelly as Shealin Johnston fires in Kilcoo's third goal two minutes from the end of normal time. There is now 14 points between the teams and Ryan Jones' two points remain the Fermanagh side's only contribution to the scoreboard.

  8. goal

That as they say is thatpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 2-7 (15:45 GMT)

As the great Jackie Fullerton once said: "That as they say is that".

Ceilum Doherty has just stroked in a second Kilcoo goal and a game which was already over is now starting to look somewhat embarrassing for Derrygonnelly.

Doherty didn't need to burst the net as his well place shot trickled past Jonathan McGurn.

  9. Kilcoo opting to shore up at the backpublished at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-7 (15:45 GMT)

Ryan Johnston's race is run today as Mickey Moran opts to bring on defender Anthony Morgan to shore this up at the back - not that it looks really necessary at this stage.

  10. Kilcoo already able to play keep ballpublished at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-7 (15:45 GMT)

Kilcoo are already able to go into keep-ball mode to run down the clock and a rather bedraggled Derrygonnelly don't really look to have the legs to do a lot about it. The defending champions are then able to make an attacking thrust when they feel like it.

It's all become a bit grim for Derrygonnelly here.

They're still without a score since skipper Ryan Jones slotted over the bar in the 25th minute.

Kilcoo have managed 1-4 without reply since then.

  12. Derrygonnelly chasing goals but it's not happening for thempublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-7 (15:45 GMT)

Derrygonnelly, rightly, now appear to think that only a goal is going to get them back into this contest but their attempts to drop the ball into the Kilcoo square have come to nought so far as we head into the second water break.

  13. McGurn's super save prevents second Kilcoo goalpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-7 (15:45 GMT)

Jerome Johnston has a glorious chance to really put the seal on his team's victory as he is bearing down on goal but Derrygonnelly goalkeeper Jonathan McGurn makes a superb save.

  15. Deadly Devlin puts Kilcoo eight uppublished at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-7 (15:45 GMT)

Paul Devlin is doing what Paul Devlin invariably does as he slots another free from 35 metres. It's relatively early days in this second half but this game is already looking over.

  16. Derrygonnelly struggling for ideaspublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-6 (15:45 GMT)

It could have been even worse for Derrygonnelly as Kilcoo keeper Niall Kane sees another free come back off the goodwork but the Fermanagh champions are unable to avail of the let-off as Garvan Jones fines a poor wide at the other end with something of a hail mary shot from distance.

  17. Devlin increases Kilcoo lead to sevenpublished at 16:38 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

    Derrygonnelly 0-2 Kilcoo 1-6 (15:45 GMT)

Derrygonnelly would really have been wanting to cut into Kilcoo's lead at the start of the second half but instead Paul Devlin increases the margin to seven as he is given acres of space to point from 35 metres out.

  18. Branagan's goal puts Kilcoo in controlpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

We'll have video of Daryl Branagan's Kilcoo goal for you shortly but prior to that, Miceal Rooney's point was probably the pick of the Down champions' scores.
