    Well, that's it for All-Ireland semi-final weekend.

Heartache for Monaghan and Derry as Dublin and Kerry power into the All-Ireland final on 30 July.

It wasn't to be for the Ulster sides this weekend, but they certainly gave us plenty of entertainment and both Monaghan and Derry will feel they have a great platform on which to build in 2024.

We can't wait for another Sam Maguire decider between the two old foes. It's two weeks away and you'll be able to watch it across BBC Sport once again!

It's very fine margins here if one or two rubs of the green we'd be talking now about how Derry had overcome the favourites and how they put them in their place so to speak.

Tadhg Morley wasn't seen very much in the game. He usually gets time to get involved but Derry cut him out but Kerry didn't cut McKinless out.

His drive forward was a serious plus for Derry today. Only for that really good save, he had two very good goals.

  4. 'We were in trouble at half-time'published at 17:56 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

    FT: Kerry 1-17 Derry 1-15

Kerry boss Jack O'Connor speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"It was a huge battle. We were in big trouble at half-time. We got four out of the first five points in the second half but Derry kept coming. They were really dangerous.

"For a game that wasn't mean to be attractive I thought there was some great football in it.

"On another day, Derry could've won it. We've been watching them closely. They have a tremendous system going and have pace on the counter.

"Glen got to an All-Ireland Club final and that shows the health of football in their county."

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on BBC Sport

It comes down to such fine margins. We questioned the Kerry support cast outside Clifford but Seanie O'Shea stepped up to score two points in that second half and that was just enough to get the Kerry team over the line. Outside of that the others were nowhere to be seen.

  6. 'Derry will have huge regrets'published at 17:53 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

Three years ago Kerry wouldn't have won that match. Something has changed in that dressing room. They always seem to step up now. They won the crucial turnovers. When Derry get on that bus, they'll have huge regrets.

    Kerry v Dublin then.

A bit like Djokovic v Alcaraz at Wimbledon. The final everyone expected.

But I'll tell you what - Monaghan and Derry can hold their heads high after this weekend.

It's a cruel finish for Derry, who bow out of the semi-finals for the second year in a row.

They poured so much into this game but it wasn't to be.

Great teams find a way to win games. Kerry weren't at their best today but they found a way.

Now they have a showdown with Dublin to look forward to.
