    Superbike race two (Six laps)

Alan Irwin, Glenn's father, speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I'm starting to relax a wee bit now. It's going to be something like Thursday night I think and maybe another one or two could join in now as a couple have seemed to pick up the pace a bit.

"It might be like that first Supertwin race and go the whole way and that will be nerve-racking!"

    Superbike race two (six laps)

We're all set for the Suprbike race to get underway.

Glenn Irwin had the advantage on Thursday night over Davey Todd and Michael Dunlop.

Remember, this is the full six laps, rather than the four we had on Friday night.

You can still expect this to be pretty fast and furious.

  3. 'We're in a good spot'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Davey Todd, speaking to BBC Sport NI: "I was definitely running on a bit of adrenaline. They have given me a great bike to ride, it's not physical to ride and I can ride it really smoothly and it's been a massive effort.

"I think we're in a good spot and I'm excited for another battle with Glenn [Irwin]."

  5. 'I'm still a bit sore'published at 11:15 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Davey Todd speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I'm still a bit sore, I won't lie. He came in pretty hard and I took a bit of a beating but I'm good to go as I showed in the race after. I was a bit sorer then than I am now, so we're in a better position now."

  6. 'I'm not in the position to win anymore'published at 11:12 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

John McGuinness MBE speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I'm really, really happy. Really enjoying this weekend and the bike is going really well and my teammate is right at the sharp edge so it's all good.

"Some good lads here, the first three or four are probably out of our reach but I had a good race there and it was really, really enjoyable to ride against them on Thursday night.

"I have to be honest with myself, even if I did have a Superbike, I don't think I could do the pace of them at the front. They're one little step ahead.

"For me, the Supertsock has been great, I rode it at Oulton Park and it's been great this week. I'm just going to do what I can with what I have got, I'm not in the position to win anymore but I'm going to enjoy the sunshine and if I could nip a podium I'd be over the moon."

  7. 'We've had a few issues with the rear of the bike'published at 11:10 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Glenn Irwin speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I feel good, we've had a few issues with the rear of the bike. I'd be a bit concerned about doing six laps. I asked the Metzeler guys would they speak to Mervyn [White, race director] and cut it but I don't think that's something they're prepared to do but not everyone's struggling so I understand that."

On chasing the Superbike record: "The place is packed. It makes the hairs on your arms stand up. There's no better place to be. Home crowd, let's go make some history. I feel good. The guys are riding well but I know we have something in reserve and this can give us something we've been missing."

  8. Superbikes - the story so farpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

    Glenn Irwin wins race one

After setting blistering pace in Thursday's qualifying, many had tipped Superbike honours to be a battle between Glenn Irwin and Davey Todd.

My word, did they deliver in Thursday's opening Superbike race. Davey Todd got the jump off the line before PBM Ducati rider Irwin made his move with at Juniper Hill chicane.

Todd looked to hit back at the same corner on the final lap, but Irwin just held his friend at bay to win his ninth Superbike win in a row.

That brings him level with the late Joey Dunlop and Michael Rutter for the record number of Superbike victories at the North West 200.

We'll be in for a treat if Irwin and Todd have a similar battle today.

  9. 'Trying to out brake Glenn at Juniper Hill, I don't think it's possible'published at 11:05 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Eugene Laverty, speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I watched Glenn [Irwin] on Thursday and how late he is with the brakes. He has got the straight line speed and trying to out brake Glenn at Juniper Hill, I don't think it's possible.

"If he plays his cards right here and if he is in the right place at the last lap. I don't think there is any beating him."

  10. Late changes for Irwinpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Glenn Irwin is saying on the grid he and his team have changed the shock absorber on his PBM Ducati to try and help tyre life for the six-lap race.

He raised concerns with race officials, but he says it is a set up issue rather than something with his Metzler tyres.

  11. 'The wind is as calm as I have ever seen'published at 11:02 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

    Keith Huewen
    BBC Sport NI commentator

The wind brakes are up, but there's not a lot of wind here.

It's as calm as I have ever seen since I have been coming here.

    Superbike race two (Six laps)

Next up, it's the Superbikes and Glenn Irwin will be looking to make it two wins from two.

I have a feeling Davey Todd, Michael Dunlop and Peter Hickman won't let him have it all his own way though.

  14. 'Station corner like a rollercoaster'published at 10:57 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

    Lee Johnston Q&A

What is it like to ride Station corner at full speed? -Ian

Lee Johnston: "I don’t really know how to explain that in words. It’s like being on the best rollercoaster in the world, but you don’t actually know if you are going to fall off the rollercoaster or not. That’s the best way of explaining it."

You’re creating a road race team with one current rider and a legend from the past. Who are you picking? -Charlie

LJ: "Current rider, I’d probably pick Dean Harrison. He’s really easy to work with. For a rider from the past, I’m going to go for Cameron Donald.

  15. 'Everything is good'published at 10:56 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

    Peter Hickman wins Supertwin opener

Mike Browne, who finished third, speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"It's a good day, everything is good, a few issues with the bike at the start but I'm happy.

"I just reigned [Jeremy] McWilliams in in the last lap and to be honest, I didn't know what to expect. He looked back once or twice and I was thinking is he playing games or is he not.

"A few times I thought I could have passed him but i thought I would just hold off until a bit later because I knew he was strong and would try to come back.

"I left it to pretty late and got him so I was happy with that."

  18. 'Maybe it was my mistake'published at 10:52 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

    Hickman wins Supertwin opener

Richard Cooper, who finished second, speaking to BBC Sport NI:

"I seen it was just me and Pete [Hickamn] because I was reading his pit board and mine said plus zero all race long and maybe it was a mistake by myself leading every lap but when he passed me into Metropole.

"That was the first time I had seen him run through the coast road and Pete's size and strength definitely outweighs my smallness and lightness in that and I did my best to hang on. Perhaps we have learnt a bit for this afternoon, but fair play to Pete, the biggest guy on the grid and he wins the smallest CC race."

  20. 'It's awesome'published at 10:49 British Summer Time 11 May 2024

Peter Hickman wins Supertwin race one

Peter Hickman speaking to BBC Sport NI: "It's awesome, the little R7 was giving good. Racing against Coops is hard work. He's so fast and he's little and light. You can see the jump out of the corners that he has on me.

"I managed to plan my race and get him for the Metropole and I know I'm fast over the coast road.

"I know if I can get out of Metropole then I can try and break the before we get to Juniper. It was tight, but I managed to just get away with it."
