  1. Davey Todd 'special'published at 10:09 British Summer Time 11 May

    Philip McCallen
11-time race winner at the NW200

Davey Todd is really something special.

Obviously the whole field can do that, but the boys on the top can dig deeper.

We watched the crash on the screen and it's unbelievable, and we thought 'is that man getting up again?'

We were worried he wouldn't be racing again but there he came strolling down the paddock!

  2. Lee Johnston Q&Apublished at 10:07 British Summer Time 11 May

BBC Sport NI pundit answers your questions

    You asked, he answered.

Lee Johnston is missing the North West 200 after sustaining a broken leg in a testing crash in Spain in February.

But the loss to racing is very much your gain as he gives his insight, wisdom and humour on BBC Sport NI's coverage of the 2024 North West 200.

You can read the full Q&A here, or we'll post his answers here throughout the day.

A lot of riders say the North West 200 is a warm-up event for the Isle of Man TT. Is that disrespectful to the North West 200? - Driftwoodturner

Lee Johnston:"A little bit, but it’s different for different people. For Glenn Irwin that’s not the case because it’s his one road race event. For the likes of Peter Hickman, Michael Dunlop or Dean Harrison, it’s probably true. Being from Northern Ireland that hurts me a little bit, but it’s the truth."

  3. 'The pace is really, really hot'published at 10:05 British Summer Time 11 May

    Jenny Tinmouth
Fastest woman around the IOM TT

It's been spectacular hasn't it with everybody riding so fast and breaking lap records. The whole field is doing their personal best lap times, the pace is really, really hot.

Obviously the weather is perfect so it's going to be great.

  4. 'On for a big day'published at 10:03 British Summer Time 11 May

  6. 'It's like being Beckham for the week'published at 09:54 British Summer Time 11 May

    Becca Keegan
BBC Sport NI at the North West 200

Glenn Irwin has been taking time out for photos ahead of racing today at the North West 200. He jokes it's "like being David Beckham for the week".

"I'm grateful to everyone for turning up and supporting me. I love this place. There is a great vibe around the grid".

It's a big day for the PBM Ducati rider, who could break the number of wins in the Superbike class after drawing level with Michael Rutter and Joey Dunlop on Thursday.

He has two attempts to do that today. There will be some celebrations if he does.

  7. Twins for starterspublished at 09:47 British Summer Time 11 May

    Richard Petrie
BBC Sport at the North West 200

The Supertwins will get the race programme underway and if the practice times are anything to go by it looks like being a thrilling race between three or possibly four riders.

Peter Hickman is a year down the tracks with the development of his Yamaha R7 and will start from pole position.

Richard Cooper on the KMR Kawasaki has won the last four Supertwins races, while Paton-mounted Jeremy McWilliams goes for a fourth North West success in this class and an 11th podium in the category.

Mike Browne meanwhile could be a dark horse to overhaul the illustrious trio.

Like Cooper, his diminutive figure is well suited to this more lightweight class and he has an Aprilia at his disposal, making it four different manufacturers for the top four.

Browne stood on the rostrum last year at the TT in this class and almost won the second Supertwin TT so his pedigree is undoubted.

  8. 'Am I going to race?' – From crash to NW200 winpublished at 09:42 British Summer Time 11 May

Todd recovers to win Superstock race

As Davey Todd sat at the side of the race track after a heavy crash, he wasn’t sure if he was going to race again this week, never mind that night.

After finishing a close second behind local favourite Glenn Irwin in the opening Superbike race at the North West 200 road race, he was looking to make amends in the Supersport class.

It began well. He made the perfect start and led the field over the coast road into the tight York corner.

But then disaster struck. Adam McLean, who had made an excellent start up to third place, misjudged his braking and his Kawasaki speared into Todd, who was sent skating down the road along with his Ducati.

It was a big impact but following a quick assessment from NW200 medics after returning to the paddock, he limped to the front of the grid to sit on his BMW Superstock machine for the final race of the night.

"I wasn't sure I was going to race,” Milwaukee BMW rider Todd said.

“Honestly, I'm a little bit sore after that crash in the Supersport race. I don't come here to sit on the sidelines, I always want to give it a go.”
