The mood started to change in Brazil on Thursday, when I was walking down the Copacabana. The fairydust of the event is created by people coming from abroad, they have a vested interest in having a good time and that changes the mood. It will be interesting to see how it makes the locals feel.
There is nothing to celebrate in Brazil anymore, economic boom has become economic depression. The slowing down of goods to China has changed the mood in the country. The Brazilian media are trying to sell the football as the most important event here.
Still waiting to hear what reception Russia will get. Panama are in.
