Ah, here we go! The start of the parade...

Ah, here we go! The start of the parade...
Major golf winners Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson are getting ready to march.
Sweden's Stenson has a little longer to wait than England's Rose before stretching his legs in the Maracana.
Here's the part about the legacy of the Rio forest which will be planted. A simple yet effective idea.
Well rooftops - but Lionel Ritchie didn't sing about that..
That's the voice of Judi Dench! She joins Fernanda Montenegro to interpret Carlos Drummond de Andrade’s classic poem, "A Flor e a Náusea”, announcing hope for the future.
Where there is Judi, there is hope.
We've just lost Amsterdam, Dubai and Florida. And now RIO! This is a mood changer.

Chanel Williams: Loving the many #dance, external styles at the Rio Olympic opening!
Dil Phury: Just need Jools Holland and this could be New Years Eve
Natural ElementGroup: Amazing scenes at the Maracana. Well Done Brazil
Ah, and we were just getting going...
Now the ceremony turns rather sombre, and serious. We focus on the concentration of carbon dioxide on the planet.
GB champion rower James Foad asks the question we're all thinking.
LOTS! Lots of fireworks now. Who doesn't love a firework?

Amanda Oliver: I'm wondering whether we'll get the macarana in the Maracana tonight
We're all up and dancing! Back to party mode.
Guitarist Jorge Ben Jor is the guy who wrote “Mas que Nada”, one of the world’s most played Brazilian songs.
You may remember a superb sportswear advert featuring the Brazil team of Ronaldo, Rivaldo and co in an airport to that tune.
On a lighter note I can tell you that the dancers in the disputes section are wearing costumes made of bottletops...
Back to the serious now. The official notes for this bit state:
"At this moment we make a comment not only about our country but about the world, where differences and intolerance seem to have intensified and we are witnessing increasing tension."
Nothing says Brazil like breakdancers and a 12-year-old rapper. And that is what we have.
We've now got a sing-off from opposite sides of the city. I'm losing the plot a bit here.
Let the party begin with the arrival of some of the faces of Brazilian pop
The creative team behind the ceremony have promised "to deliver a message for planet earth" that will kick off the Games.
To emphasise the message each athlete will be given a seedling to plant in what will become "the athletes' legacy for Rio de Janeiro".
"They will leave a tree in Brazil. Hopefully in two years' time we will have a wonderful Olympic forest. We will celebrate humanity and we wil celebrate Rio," said Marco Balich, the show's lead producer.
[I'm pretty sure forests take longer than two years to grow but I like the sentiment]
Elza Soares was elected “best singer of the millennium” in 2000 by the BBC, according to our notes.
Are we sure about that?!
