    What a winner. It's been a privilege to watch every one of his gold medals but I don't think I've seen one as emotional as that one. He destroyed the field. It was stunning.

    Ryan Lochte faded badly, he looked tired and aging. He finished fifth. Kosuke Hagino took silver with Shun Wang the bronze.

    Brazilian favourite Thiago Pereira burnt himself out and came seventh. Dan Wallace was eighth and last.

    That was an incredible final 125m. Michael Phelps taught them all a lesson at the age of 31. He tore it apart!

    A fourth gold medal in a row in the one event. Amazing. His 22nd Olympic Gold medal.
