'Neutral' Russian Klishina banned - reportspublished at 19:16

There are reports emerging from Russia that Darya Klishina - the only Russian competing in athletics at Rio 2016 - has been banned from the Games.

The 25-year-old had been cleared to compete as her clean doping record was established in the United States, where she is based, rather than in Russia, where a state-sponsored doping regime is alleged to have been in place.

Athletics' governing body the IAAF has put in place a blanket ban on the Russia team.

The decision to ban Klishina "was based on additional findings of the McLaren investigation into doping allegations" according to the Sputnik news agency., external

    Nadal 7-5 Del Potro

After an almighty slobberknocker of a first set, Rafael Nadal moves a step closer to the Olympic final. Juan Martin del Potro's serve fails him in the 12th game, meaning he will have to come from behind if he is to play Andy Murray for gold.

Speaking of track cycling, we'll be under way again in the velodrome from 20:00. First come Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner in the quarter-finals of the men's sprint, then Becky James aims for the Keirin final. After that, the world record-holding women's pursuit team go for gold.

Have you seen this? This is perhaps the most remarkable thing I've seen in the entire Games thus far. A crash in the first round of the women's Keirin led the Netherlands' Laurine van Riessen to defy gravity on the barricade to stay on her bike. Just watch it...

I find myself watching Brazil v Argentina in the men's basketball. Raucous atmos, arena packed, derby feel. Brazil are also wearing a lurid green that is one of the worst kits I have seen in this entire Games. They are 42-36 ahead in the second quarter.

    Badminton Adcock mixed doubles

It is time for Great Britain’s husband and wife pair Chris and Gabby Adcock to play in the badminton mixed doubles.

This is the big one. Beat their Polish opponents and they’re into the quarter-finals, lose and they’re out.

    They're just under way.

Juan Martin del Potro's fans are very happy. In between games they're on their feet, singing, clapping, sometimes they're bouncing up and down, waving their national flag in the air. Wonderful.

The Argentine, the world number 144 - slipping down the rankings after undergoing wrist surgery last year - broke Rafael Nadal early, but the Spaniard has restored parity.

Del Potro's fans are still singing, however, it's just that those in Nadal's camp are now raising their voices too.
