    Men's 110m hurdles

Ooooh! Andrew Pozzi was looking superb for the first half of that race, he clanked a hurdle heavily, a real stumble, but he recovers to finish second.

Brazilian Joao de Oliveira clatters the last one and resorts to a full-length dive - and it works! He's through.

    That wasn’t rain!

Actually it was rain. It was very heavy rain.

    So says a Scotsman...

That could be good news for Andrew Pozzi - who goes in lane nine.

Colin Jackson has just said that he could yet be a challenger for a medal. Got to safely negotiate this one first.

It's stopped raining but it's still very damp.

Things have gone rather watery and quiet out there in Rio.

Earlier, we came across this picture of New Zealand rowing legend Eric Murray ordering an awful lot of McDonalds.

Former Britain rower James Cracknell waded in, suggesting that himself and Matthew Pinsent could out-eat his ex-rival and his partner, Hamish Bond.

Now that would make an interesting clash...

Are we back on?published at 01:10 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

Officials with clipboards are back out, seats have been moved, the rain has stopped. I think.

It's still a bit grim but it's safe. And we should get back up and running soon. Maybe.

They've halted the 110m hurdles heat, but only after Jamaica's Deuce Carter came seventh in the second race of the night.

The rain hasn't stopped play at the hockey - not in the same area as the stadium, to be fair - and Dutch women are beating Argentina 2-0 in their quarter-final.

    Deuce Carter

Deuce Carter qualified for his first Olympic Games by finishing second in the Jamaican trials.

Judging from his face before his heat you could be forgiven for thinking he probably regretted it.

He whacked at least three hurdles on his way down and crashed out.

Carter said after qualifying for the Games: “I am going to Rio, I didn’t know this day would come.”

Sadly, it's now come and gone.

    Diving: Men's 3m springboard preliminaries

Pass me a video to fill, quick!

Today's divers competing in the preliminary stages of the men's three-metre springboard managed to avoid what happened to American Greg Louganis in 1988.

The American banged his head on the board during the early stages of the preliminaries, although he did recover from the concussion he sustained to win the gold medal later on in the same Olympics.

Watch the moment he hit the board again with this clip.

    'I hated the rain'published at 00:56 British Summer Time 16 August 2016

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC One

If you look at Orlando Ortega he's basically approaching this like "yeah it's raining, but I'm going to do what I've got to do".

I hated warming up in the rain, and it'd take me a few minutes to get over the fact that it was raining and I didn't like it, but then you get on with it and do what you've got to do.
