Here's a handy recap of how the omnium has been so far for Laura Trott. She's been the epitome of consistency - either first or second in each of the five disciplines.

Now just 100 laps of the track separate her from becoming the first British woman to win four Olympic golds.

She has a large lead but after last night's bottom-squeaker for Mark Cavendish in the men's race, I'm not taking anything for granted in the craziness that is the points race!

    Omnium points race

We come to our first sprint and three breakaway riders look for the big points.

It has a Tour de France feel to it this race - Laura Trott doesn't have to worry about breakaways unless there's a rival in it.

There isn't on this occasion and in fact the British pocket rocket attacks and picks up the single point for coming fourth. She extends her lead.

Laura is very vigilant, she will have an eye on everybody but to be honest it is going to be a bit of a procession to Laura  winning the gold medal.

So, how's this points race malarkey work then?

    It's 25km long - 100 laps - and there's a sprint every 10 laps, with 5pts, 3pts, 2pts and 1pt dished out for the top four of each sprint.

You can also get 20 points for lapping the field or lose 20 points if the field laps you.

GB's Laura Trott has a 24-point lead - she just has to stay in the mix.

There is always a risk Laura could crash but you learn how to crash without hurting yourself.

It is not pleasant but even if she falls off there will be spare bikes and the race is neutralised.

There is definitely more to come.

But knowing Laura she won't ride negatively, she will want to win this race.

Annalise Murphy's mum, brother and sister are all in fine voice as she collects Ireland's first sailing medal in 36 years.

The light is fading in front of Sugar Loaf Mountain but after a nervous pause the 26-year-old steps onto the podium as the Laser Radial silver medallist and turns to face her family with a smile that lights up the stage.

Her brother Fin was due to leave Rio today after yesterday's medal race postponement, good job he managed to change his flights!
