Laura Trott has won three of the five events in the omnium and come second in the other two.

With just the points race to come she has a 24-point lead over Belgium's Jolien D'Hoore.

Say it quietly, but only a disaster can stop her from becoming Britain's all-time highest gold medal winning female athlete.

The points race starts at 21:05 BST.

    Sir Chris Hoy

Laura Trott is a phenomenon. She is in absolute control of this omnium event.

She is not a pure sprinter but has a good turn of speed.

There are other riders who specialise in the faster stuff but Laura won't lose too much ground here as long as it isn't a disaster.

Close, but not close enough for Brazil, who squandered two penalties and 11 five metre shots.

Croatia, however, progress to the semis, and remain in the hunt to defend their Olympic title.

Man of the match? The man above, Marko Bijac, who put in an inspired performance between the sticks for Croatia.

If you didn't know you were in Brazil, you'd think this was Manchester or Lee Valley as the support for the British cyclists has been immense.

It's not really surprising seeing as Britain are top of the cycling medal table here and could equal the London 2012 tally of 12 with four more medals on the final night.

Becky James has a gentle spin after going 1-0 up in her sprint semi-final but Katy Marchant has work to do against former world sprint champion, Germany's Kristina Vogel.
