GB's Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark must wait another agonising 24 hours to be crowned 470 Olympic champions.

After the flag is raised on the committee boat, all the sailors get a tow into the marina on a frustrating afternoon, but at least the sun was shining.

Our driver Sergio was right all along.

    Nigeria 0-1 Germany

Chelsea are missing a trick playing Jon Mikel Obi sitting in front of the back four, he's having a stormer in the number 10 role! He drops the shoulder twice to beat a desperate lunge on the edge of the area but his powerful shot is well charged down. Nigeria having a good spell.

And so to hockey for a big, big game.

I'm told by a former player upon arriving that conditions ruined the earlier semi-final, where Netherlands won through in a shootout.

Well, the heat has not relented. It is utterly baking in Deodoro and Team GB v New Zealand will be a contest played in a testing environment.

It's a tough ask, these Team GB women are ranked seven in the world, New Zealand are fourth. We get underway at 21:00 BST.

Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark's wait to collect their gold medal for the women's 470 sailing goes on with the announcement that the race has been called off for today due to a lack of wind.

The British pair just have to cross the line to win because they hold a 20-point lead, and the hope is that there will be enough of a breeze for racing to resume tomorrow. The men's 470 race was also postponed.

If you're a fan of the Premier League it's almost worth watching this semi-final just to see Jon Mikel Obi - clogger of Chelsea fame - playing in a free role behind the striker.

    'Ouch, that hurts!'

As a diver, the last thing you want to do is belly flop. The second to last thing you want to do is hit the water with your face. That's what Russia's Yulia Timoshinina has just done in the women's 10m platform prelims. Ouch.

Meanwhile, a big improvement from GB's Tonia Couch. She nails a very tricky looking armstand back double somersault 1½ twists and she scores 76.80 to climb up to 12th after two rounds.

Couch's compatriot Sarah Barrow is unable to follow up on a solid start as she scores 44.80 with her second dive and is currently 22nd with three rounds to go.

    Nigeria 0-1 Germany

Almost an Olympic special for Danny Baker or Nick Hancock's Christmas videos. Take a bow, Germany goalkeeper Timo Horn.

A routine backpass should be battered away downfield but he somehow clips the ball with his standing left foot, meaning that his clearance ends up spitting up in the air and travelling about four yards.

Nigeria really should equalise but credit to Horn, who recovers to make a sprawling save.

    Thirteen minutes gone.

Your chances of an upset in the men's football have been few and far between so far as Germany take an early lead. Lovely incisive play ends with Max Meyer rolling a square ball on a plate to Lukas Klostermann, who doesn't miss those.

Another birdie on the 16th pushes the world number two in front of South Korea's Inbee Park, giving her the outright lead on day one of the first women's Olympic golf event since 1900.

You may have never wondered what former Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin's view on doping is, but it is certainly interesting.

The Russian has said that all athletes in certain sports use banned performance-enhancing drugs.

Success in "cyclic sports", which require repetitive movements, is "simply impossible without doping," he said.

"That means swimming, skiing, cycling. I think everyone dopes."

Shirley Robertson has been speaking to Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark who are being forced to wait for their gold medal due to the lack of wind.

Mills said it their wait felt like "limbo" that they "can't wait for it to be competed."

"We just want it to be done," she added.

"We have had a marathon week. Conditions have been wacky, up and down and to have no wind today is tough."

Clark added: "We were looking forward to getting a good night’s sleep tonight but we will have to go through the process again and get a good sleep for tomorrow."

So Liam Phillips ends 10th in the time trial.

Looking at the splits, he lost his way midway through his run. His start was fifth best of the 32 riders, his first segment saw him fourth in the running but from there on things slipped.

Kyle Evans ends the day 21st.

The quarter finals are at 17:30 BST tomorrow.
