I am a little surprised that Non Standford hasn't gone with Gwen Jorgensen and Nicola Spirig.

Out of anyone you would think that she would be the one who could go with them.

It just shows the pace that they are putting on at the moment.

This is turning into races within races.

Gwen Jorgenson and Nicola Spirig look like they will duel for gold and silver.

They are 16 seconds clear of a pack of four behind. Britain's Non Stanford and Vicky Holland have Chile's Barbara Riveros and Emma Moffatt of Australia for company.

Two and half of the 10km course done.

But Gwen Jorgensen is stalking her break and reels her in. The American leads.

That might be the last the rest see of her.

Vicky Holland and Non Stanford are third and fourth as Nicola Spirig goes with Jorgensen.

Bottles being sipped, legs rolling over rather than straining and minds wandering elsewhere.

The 18-strong lead group 0- including favourite Gwen Jorgensen, Brits Non Stanford and Vicky Holland, Bermuda's Flora Duffy and defending champion Nicola Spirig - are readying themselves for the run.

The chasers are almost three minutes behind and are out of contention.

Leader Chen Aisen may as well pack up and have a nap before the final this afternoon. He is miles ahead of the rest of the field... 

Tom Daley's forward four-and-a-half scored 103 in yesterday's preliminaries. 

Today? 81.40

He scores better than his previous three dives but it's not enough to move him off the bottom of the pack at the end of round four. 

Do we start worrying here?

British duo Non Stanford and Vicky Holland finished second and third behind Gwen Jorgensen at the test event on this Rio course in August last year.

They will fancy their chance of taking on the rest in the run.

Everyone seems to be keeping their powder dry for that final leg as Nicola Spirig works alone on the front of the 18-strong lead group.

It is difficult to see a breakaway happening. 

With two laps to go, if we are going to see anything happen it will be now but I doubt it will.

The lead group spin though to finish lap six of eight and it is an ominous sight for the rest with Gwen Jorgensen out in front.

She usually coasts past the rest on the run. She has gone from red-hot favourite to white-hot.

Someone needs something spectacular very soon if they are to upset the odds.

I think you want to be on someone's wheel but near the front, in case something does happen.

There could be a crash or accident ahead of you and you might not be able to get around.

Switzerland's Nicola Spirig - who has been tireless on the front of the pack - finally gets a couple of seconds on the rest and forces them to respond at the end of the fifth lap.

Flora Duffy of Bermuda leads the chase and reels her back in, but it is hotting up.

Non Stanford and Vicky Holland are right up there. Helen Jenkins' hopes look lost in a chasing group.

Round three.

It's a "Nope" from Leon Taylor for Tom Daley's armstand back-three-and-a-half somersaults. 

"It's weak on his take off and lacks the momentum he needs."

He scores 47.25 and Tom lies in LAST position at the halfway stage, but Leon says with gritted teeth, "I am not worried".
