There's been mixed fortunes for Ireland's athletes in Rio.

Highs? The O'Donovan brothers - Ireland's gift to Rio. Silver medallists Gary, 23, and Paul, 22, became an internet sensation thanks to their hilarious post-race interviews.

Lows? The drama of Michael Conlan's shock boxing defeat.

13:07 - GB's Liam Heath bids for his second medal of the Olympics in canoe sprint in the men's K1 200m final. The women's K4 500m final is at 13:47.

15:00 - Britain's Non Stanford, Helen Jenkins and Vicky Holland are all medal contenders in the women's triathlon.

15:45 - Mahama Cho in the +80kg category and Bianca Walkden in the +67kg class look to add to Britain's taekwondo medal tally.

Back in May 2014 American broadcaster NBC paid $7.7bn (£4.5bn) for the rights to show the Olympic Games up to 2032 on television, internet and mobiles in the United States.

But Bloomberg report that that the first Summer Games return since that investment has been disappointing for the broadcaster.

"Prime-time broadcast viewership has been down about 17 percent compared to the London games four years ago. And in the 18-to-49-year-old age group coveted by advertisers, it’s been even worse. That audience has been 25 percent smaller," they report. , external

"'Sports is less ingrained in the younger demographic,' said Brandon Ross, an analyst at BTIG Research. 'It has been replaced by other things like video games and e-sports and Snapchat feeds.'"

Mike Coleman, writer for the Brisbane-based Courier Mail says, "the Poms smashed us in the cycling, they smashed us in the rowing and they smashed us in the hockey.

"Last time I looked they had won 24 gold medals to our seven — although it could be more by the time I finish typing this paragraph. 

"We’ve got four TVs covering four different sports at once in our office and it seems like at least one of them is playing God Save the Queen at any given time".

The Daily Telegraph, external has spotted that a German company - Euro Informationen - which lists the European Commission and European Parliament as their most prominent clients, has put together a medal table conflating all European Union nations medals together under one flag.

The European Union come top of their medal table, with Britain contributing 24 of the 88 golds.

Polish discus thrower Piotr Malachowski is auctioning his silver medal in order to raise funds for a three year old boy's cancer treatment. 

Olek Szymanski, who has suffered for nearly two years from retinoblastoma, an eye cancer affecting young children

"In Rio I fought for gold," he said on his Facebook profile. "Today I call on all people - let us fight together for something that is even more valuable. For the health of this fantastic boy." 

"There is no chance of saving Olek's eyes in Poland. The only chance is therapy in New York," Malachowski said.

Is this the Olympian's equivalent of writing 'VIP' on your Reading festival wristband in biro and seeing how you get on? 

Several Australian Olympians have been questioned by police after allegedly tampering with their accreditation to gain entry to a basketball match.

The athletes are said to have attempted to get better seats for Australia men's semi-final against Serbia.

Fiona de Jong, chief executive of the Australian Olympic Committee, said that "no one has been arrested".

Great Britain's Joe Joyce will take on Frenchman Tony Yoka for the super-heavyweight gold medal - won by compatriot Anthony Joshua - won by 19:15 BST on Sunday.

He did his best to win over some local support for the final by breaking out capoeira - the country's dance-martial arts mash-up - in celebration.

South Korea's Inbee Park holds a two-shot lead at 11 under par going into the final round of the women's Olympic golf event in Rio.

Great Britain's Charley Hull is tied fifth on five under par but her compatriot Catriona Matthew is out of medal contention in tied 26th place.

Today golfers will tee off from the first and 10th holes at 11:00 BST and 11:05 respectively because of the threat of bad weather.

The leading group of Park, Lydia Ko and Gerina Piller will start on the first tee at 12:44.

Wrestler Inna Trazhukova says she was physically abused by a Russian wrestling official after she lost her bronze medal match on Thursday. 

According to the Russia’s Sport-Express, she says she was hit twice in the face by the head of the Russian wrestling federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili. 

After losing to Poland's Monika Michalik, Trazhukova said Mamiashvili was drunk, rude and verbally abusive and there was a witness present. She intends to file charges with a prosecutor upon her return to Moscow.

“He embarrassed me in public,” Trazhukova said in Russian. “I want to stop this so female athletes in the future don’t suffer because of him.”
