Nigerian athletes in Rio received their Olympic kits only on day 13 of the Games, the BBC has learned.

Most of them had finished competing by the time the outfits arrived.

"We are disappointed and embarrassed. We've been wearing kits from the World Athletics Championships," one athlete, requesting anonymity, told the BBC.

Nigeria's men's football team has its own sponsored kit - but it has been hit by funding problems and players only arrived hours before their first match. The team plays for bronze on Saturday against Honduras.

Africa's most populous country has so far won no medals at Rio, with only three more days of competition left to go.

Britain's Non Stanford, Helen Jenkins and Vicky Holland are all medal contenders in the women's triathlon, which starts at 15:00 BST.

Now is not a good time to be Australian sports fan. 

Lin Dan of China may be the five-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion but he's just lost the men's singles bronze medal match to Games debutant Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.

Axelsen, 22, came from a game down against his 32-year-old opponent to win 15-21 21-10 21-17.

The official line was always that Team GB were targeting 48 medals, but with 61 already won, the cat is out of the bag - beating London was the aim.

"It’s been outstanding," says UK Sport chief executive Liz Nicholl.

"We knew that we have potentially 79 medal shots and our target was at least 48 – a best ever ‘away’ Games – but really we were aiming for 66, one more than London."

After a fair bit of criticism following London 2012 for what many saw as a brutal funding system, UK Sport can point to a medal table that shows GB above China and behind only the USA.

"It shows that the system is working here in the UK," adds Nicholl, "and yet those of us involved know that there’s a huge amount more that can be improved, more potential to come, so as we look ahead to Tokyo, it’s looking really exciting."

The post-mortem on Australia's underwhelming Rio 2016 campaign continues apace and the Sydney Morning Herald seem to have got some of the gory details, external.

It reports that the team's morale was damaged by a swimming clique who pulled down posters of previous Australian Olympians such as Cathy Freeman and Herb Elliott at the team's village HQ, replaced the slogan of "one team" with "our team" and switched the traditional punchy kangaroo mascot with their own dolphin version.

The scars of their 7-1 defeat in their home World Cup in 2014 may never heal, but Brazil might be able to erase some of the angst by beating Germany in the men's football final.

Brazil have won every other major football title available to them, but they have never got their hands on the gold at the Olympics.

South Korea's Inbee Park has extended her lead over the field to five shots in the final round, moving to 13 under after picking up a couple of strokes.

Her competition is in reverse with New Zealand's Lydia Ko and the United States Gerina Piller both at one over for the day and a eight-under tie for second.

Great Britain's Charley Hull is one under for the day, six under overall and sixth on the leaderboard.

Britain's Liam Heath, who won gold in the men's 200m kayak sprint: "It's amazing, I'm on top of the world. We came into the competition strong and we have maintained our form. It feels incredible."

We know Great Britain are good in the second 250m, but this demonstrates that you can't leave such a big gap. GB have to work out how they can do better between 100m and 200m to ensure they don't have as much water to make up in the second half of the race.

At 250m Great Britain are well off the pace.

They need a huge second half to get into medal contention.

Jess Walker, Rachel Cawthorn, Rebii Simon and Louisa Gurski are on the startline for the kayak four 500m.

They have a lane eight draw. They are going to have to do it from way downtown.

Hungary and Germany are expected to duel it out for gold.

China are trying to catch Team GB in the medal table and could be helped in today's men's singles badminton.

Lin Dan is currently in action for China in the bronze medal match against Denmark's Viktor Axelsen and it's one game apiece. After that match, his compatriot Chen Long will take on Lee Chong Wei, of Malaysia, in the gold medal match.

The quartet finished joint second with Canada in their semi-final to qualify but face a tough challenge to get a medal.

Olympic history says that it’s usually rivals Germany and Hungary who dominate in the women’s K4. Hungary won gold in 1992 and 2012, with Germany winning four in a row between 1996-2008.

Belarus became world champions last year and are also expected to challenge after winning their heat to reach the final.

FYI, because we know you like these things, Cawthorn is the partner (in life rather than boats) of kayak double silver winner Jon Schofield.
