    Women's 800m semi-finals

Team GB's Alex Bell and Keely Hodgkinson have been speaking to Jeanette Kwakye after reaching the final:

Alex Bell: "It is a dream come true, I did not expect to be on this journey and now I am on this journey and I said regardless of outcome I wanted to enjoy every step. At least I wanted to walk away with a PB or a qualifying time for next year. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be an Olympic finalist."

Keely Hodgkinson: "I am so happy to qualify, to have three I don't think that has ever happened before and all of the girls deserve it. I am going to go out and do the best I can, if that brings out a medal then so be it."

Superb performance there by the three Brits in the women's 800m semi-finals.

I think we all needed that after the bombshell of Dina Asher-Smith's hamstring injury and that heartbreaking interview.

Here's how our pundits reacted on BBC One...

I love that fact that Keely [Hodgkinson] kept her discipline and her racing brain on when most would think they are so far behind and they would have to attack.

She was patient, she just waited for the right moment to attack down the home straight.

Great Britain are off the mark.

Susannah Townsend is in the right place at the right time to score her first goal of the Olympic tournament.

Ireland would need to absolutely thump GB to make the quarter-final stages now.

She judged it so well. That is what is so, so impressive about Keely Hodgkinson she has so many ways that she can run the race and she is wise beyond her years with the decisions she makes in the race.

    Further great news.

Alex Bell's time in the second semi-final was enough to bag her a fastest loser spot in the final.

That means there will be THREE Brits in the final. Epic.

What a great run from Keely Hodgkinson. She was way back in sixth but coming out of the final bend she made her move, pushing past the rest of the pack to nab the win on the line in 1:59.12.

    She's into Tuesday's final.

No goals yet in Great Britain and Ireland's final women's hockey pool match.

With India beating South Africa 4-3 earlier on today, the Irish side need to win to have any hope of progressing to the knockout stages.

Unfortunately, it's a tough ask as so far, Ireland goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran has been the busy of the two.

As it stands, GB are through to the quarter-finals, Ireland are home.

Alex Bell couldn't have done any more there. She had to come out there race like it was her final, she had to not get drawn into trying to race with Athing Mu just race her race.

She wanted to walk away from this thinking that at least if she didn't make it through she has run as fast as she is capable of doing.

A brilliant, brilliant run from Alex Bell. She finishes third and will have to keep her fingers crossed for a fastest loser spot.

American Athing Mu and Ethiopia's Habitam Alemu were too strong out at the front and qualify automatically for the final.

But Bell gave everything she had there. Let's hope it's enough.
