USA's 400m hurdles world record-breaker Sydney McLaughlin on BBC One: "It doesn't feel real yet, I'm just processing it all. I'm super grateful, super thankful to God. I'm sure my family and my teammates back home are just elated so I'm really happy.

"You're only as strong as your team, I go out as one but there's 10,000 back home supporting me. I'm grateful to be able to represent all of them.

"I knew I had it in me, it's just about putting it all together and I was able to do that."

A golden weekend for Clarke?published at 06:56 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

    Clarke v Jalolov (07:03 BST)

    Frazer ClarkeImage source, PA Media

Frazer Clarke is guaranteed at least a bronze but, with his 30th birthday approaching on Saturday, could have a dream weekend.

If the 'Eraser' beats Jalolov - who is unbeaten in 36 bouts - he goes into Sunday's gold-medal bout.

Clarke, who is from Burton-on-Trent, guaranteed himself a medal following the disqualification of his quarter-final opponent Mourad Aliev for excessive use of the head.

Clarke played down concerns over his cuts from the bout, saying: "I'm an Olympic medallist. These are little cuts. This is my job and what I do. I'm a tough man, a proud man. It will take more than a little cut to stop me."

Winning an Olympic medal is a chance of third time lucky for Clarke. He was overlooked for selection at London 2012 in favour of Anthony Joshua - his former sparring partner and eventual gold medallist - and again at Rio 2016 where Joe Joyce was picked and won silver.

Spain try to hold their line but they almost crash into Sweden, with New Zealand close by to their right.

They have to pull out and it means they will fall slightly behind Sweden.

Australia are in front as the four race towards the top of the course.

    Men's 470

This is the last Olympics for the single sex 470 class – it will become a mixed gender event at the Paris Games in three years time.

Patience, who won silver at London 2012 in this class, is all for greater gender equality but is frustrated by the move.

“Equality should mean equal opportunity for men and women, and I’m not sure we’ve quite got that right,” he said.

“At the moment we’re forcing in more female competitors and forcing out a load of men. That’s not equality, it’s just balancing a spreadsheet.”

More medals for Britain - but what colour?published at 06:41 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

    Men's boxing

Great Britain's boxers have already secured a record six medals at Tokyo 2020 - but the colour of four of those still have to be decided.

Two of those medals will be determined in the next hour or so.

Super heavyweight Frazer Clarke is the first of the quartet in action, going toe-to-toe with the fearsome Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan in the first semi-final at 07:03 BST.

Then, GB team-mate Ben Whittaker faces Cuba's Arlen Lopez, a middleweight gold medallist at Rio 2016, in the light-heavyweight gold-medal bout at 07:35.

On Thursday, Galal Yafai goes in the flyweight semi-finals before Lauren Price's middleweight semi-final bout on Friday.

Pat McCormack has already won a silver medal after losing a hard-fought men's welterweight contest to Cuba's Roniel Iglesias yesterday, while Karriss Artingstall took bronze in the women's featherweight.
