Well, that's just about it from us for this evening. Thank you for your company and I hope you enjoyed the game as much as we did.

Remember, we'll be back tomorrow evening for the second instalment of the World Club Series as Wigan Warriors take on Brisbane Broncos at the DW Stadium.

Then on Sunday, Super League champions St Helens face NRL premiers South Sydney Rabbitohs, whose owner Russell Crowe is expected to be in attendance at Langtree Park.

    Until tomorrow, goodbye.

If you can't keep in touch with all the World Club Series action over the weekend you can catch up with all the goings-on on the BBC's Super League Show.

And, in a first, on Sunday, the show will go out across the whole of the UK on BBC One at 23:40 GMT, featuring highlights from that night's World Club Challenge between St Helens and South Sydney and a round-up of tonight's and tomorrow's games.

The programme will then be repeated in its normal slots, on Monday night at 23:45 GMT across the north of England on BBC One, and then on Tuesday on BBC Two at 13:05 GMT. It will also be available on the BBC iPlayer.

Asked about the high tackles, Warrington coach Tony Smith told Sky Sports: "I thought the referee was trying to go through the game without giving a penalty.

"I don't like to see anyone sent-off but having seen that I would hate to be Patrick Ah Van."

Widnes winger Ah Van, remember, was sent off for a high tackle on Wigan's Josh Charnley during the opening game of this season's Super League.

Warrington stand-off Gareth O'Brien told Sky Sports: "We were in the game but I thought our contact was a bit off tonight and we were disappointed to concede the tries we did.

"We have got plenty to work on for next week. They got us on the back foot and that is something we need to work on.

"We really wanted to put on a good performance but I thought we were a bit loose defensively."

Dragons full-back Josh Dugan told Sky Sports: "Warrington are a great side and they made us work for it.

"We trained well all week and wanted to build off our training and put on a show for the crowd. It was an unreal atmosphere to play in and a great performance for our boys."

"It was a good game and I think St George just about deserved to edge it. It's a very good start to the World Club Series."

Indeed it is. St George Illawarra successfully run down the clock, the hooter goes and it's first blood to the NRL in the World Club Series.

That's frustrating for Warrington. Referee Ben Thaler pulls up Ryan Atkins for knocking on but then awards a penalty against the Warrington man for back chat.

The TV replay tells you why Atkins was angry. The ball was knocked out of his hands by a Dragons player and it should have been a penalty for Wolves.

You sense that's their last chance gone.

As the Dragons move the ball back to halfway, Benji Marshall tries his luck with a long-distance drop-goal but his effort drifts wide of the right-hand post.

"Warrington have not got through their sets enough tonight and that has been their undoing."

Daryl Clark goes for the line but the Dragons read his dart.

But Warrington move the ball right but Joel Monaghan can't gather the ball as he tries to dive for the corner and the chance is gone.

You sense Warrington need a penalty and they are gifted one.

Gareth O'Brien lofts a high kick and Joel Monaghan is obstructed as he tries to challenge Eto Nabuli.

    This could be Warrington's chance.

BBC Sport's Phil Cartwright at the Halliwell Jones Stadium: "Wigan v Brisbane and St Helens v South Sydney over the weekend - more of the same, please. This has been an enthralling contest."

Benji Marshall is starting to run this game, and Kevin Penny can only bat another delicious kick out behind the in-goal area.

Wire are let off, though, as Marshall foolishly barges into Penny to gift the hosts a penalty.

Warrington move the ball upfield but then opt to kick off the fourth tackle and Eto Nabuli gathers over his shoulder under little pressure and the threat is gone.

To be fair to the NRL side, that try was no more than they deserved for their pressure in the opening 25 minutes of the second half.

And they have Warrington under pressure again but the hosts do just enough to keep the Dragons out. You sense the home side are tiring though.

  16. TRYpublished at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

That's quite a response from St George Illawarra. Hooker Mitch Rein does the hard work with a bulldozing run.

Then, from a quick play the ball, Wolves are undone by a fine reverse kick from Benji Marshall, which Josh Dugan gathers before spinning off a tackle to touch down.

Gareth Widdop kicks a simple conversion and Dragons lead by six.

The question is, though, should Marshall still have been on the pitch to work his magic?

  17. PENALTYpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

Fair play to Gareth O'Brien, who dusts himself down to land a simple penalty from in front of the posts and we're all square.

"He must go off for that. I just can not see how he has not sent him off there. That is ridiculous refereeing. I'm sorry but what do you have to do to get sent off for a high tackle?"

  19. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

Ouch! That's another high tackle on a Warrington player as Gareth O'Brien is taken out by Benji Marshall.

It's an obvious penalty but once again referee Ben Thaler keeps his cards in his pocket. St George Illawarra are lucky not to be down to 12.
