And Warrington make the most of it. The penalty gives Wolves great field position and they don't waste it.

As the Dragons defence races out from near their own line, Gary Wheeler times a perfect pass to Ryan Atkins, who spins in the tackle to touch down.

Gareth O'Brien's kick drifts wide as the rain falls. And as soon as the home crowd stop celebrating, they are soon back to booing Ben Thaler's decision not to reduce the Dragons to 12.

    Nasty, nasty, nasty.

There's a cumulative cry of 'ooh' from the Halliwell Jones Stadium crowd as Eto Nabuli catches Kevin Penny with an old-fashioned clothes line tackle.

Surely, that's worthy of the sin-bin? No, says the referee, partly because it's the first penalty of the game. But it's a chance for the Wire.

Warrington force an error and have a scrum on their own 40-metre line. It's a chance to pile forward and Daryl Clark does just that,.

Gareth O'Brien's tries to catch the visitors out with a kick but Benji Marshall is on hand to sweep up.

BBC Sport's Phil Cartwright at the Halliwell Jones Stadium: "The St George backs have been rock solid under the high ball so far tonight. Gareth O'Brien keeps pumping up high bombs, but each one has been superbly clutched by a red and white shirt.

"Not seen much of Daryl Clark in an attacking sense yet - his running power with the ball is one of the most dangerous weapons Super League has to offer."

Warrington seek an immediate response with a high, hanging kick to put St George Illawarra under pressure.

It's anyone's ball but Dragons' Jason Nightingale takes it beautifully and the visitors can move the ball back towards halfway.

And that pressure certainly pays dividends.

Gareth Widdop slots through a beautifully weighted grubber kick which Joel Monaghan looks favourite to gather.

But Joel Thompson gets there first to touch down and the try is given on the say-so of the video referee.

For the first time really since they scored, St George Illawarra have possession deep inside the Warrington half.

From their scrum, they work the ball right, then come back inside and Ben Creagh is stopped a yard from the line.

    Wire are under pressure again.

"There is plenty of room on the flanks for Warrington to work with on their kicks because St George are cramping to the middle. Wire are playing that well."

    Fabulous, fabulous try from Warrington.

Richie Myler straightens his run then times his pass to perfection for Gareth O'Brien to race through a gap in the Dragons' defensive line just inside the visitors' half.

He still has plenty to do but races away before selling Josh Dugan a dummy to cross unopposed near the posts before converting his own score.

And they so nearly make the most of it.

Richie Myler's pinpoint kick catches St George Illawarra wing Eto Nabuli out of position and Joel Monaghan catches the ball in acres of space.

Surely he has to score? No. Nabuli recovers his ground magnificently and makes a try-saving tackle a yard from the line. Fabulous defence.

That was a good defensive set by Warrington and Benji Marshall has to kick from deep as the Dragons struggle to make metres.

The home side will get the ball back with decent field position.

This is a bright start from the Dragons. Gareth Widdop spots Wolves captain Joel Monaghan out of position and places a kick behind him and into touch.

Warrington have a scrum inside their own 20 but make use of their set of six to take play deep into the visitors' half.

And that's the worst possible start for Warrington. St George take the ball left and then swing it right.

Tyson Frizell holds off the the challenge of Gareth O'Brien and dives over in the corner unopposed.

It's a difficult conversion for Gareth Widdop, but the England stand-off makes no mistake.

  17. Kick-offpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

It's the visitors who get us under way and it's Warrington who will have the first set of six.

Wire prop Ashton Sims loses the ball on his first carry and St George have great early field position.

Kick-off is only minutes away and the Halliwell Jones Stadium is a sea of primrose and blue.

The Wolves have beaten Salford and Hull in their two Super League games so far, while the Dragons - wearing a St Helens style red vee - come into the game on the back of a pre-season draw against NRL premiers South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Both sides are greeted by a wall of noise as they walk on to the pitch. Let's get this on.
