  1. St Helens 0-18 Wiganpublished at 55 mins

Maybe I will live to regret that as Saints suddenly spark into life.

Luke Walsh's lovely inside ball finds Shannon McDonnell but he is unable to beat the last defender... James Roby does win a penalty, though, and the hosts have another set to try and get their first points.

  2. St Helens 0-18 Wiganpublished at 52 mins

I might live to regret saying this but St Helens really look like they're out of ideas in attack.

Some tired legs out there from all the tackling they've had to do. Luke Walsh's high hoist comes to nothing.

  3. PENALTY (Smith)published at 50 mins

    St Helens 0-18 Wigan

Meat and drink that for Matty Smith.

Under the shadow of the posts he slots his third kick of the afternoon and St Helens now need three converted scores

  4. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 49 mins

Anthony Gelling's line break causes havoc in the St Helens defence.

As the ball is played back it strikes Alex Walmsley and Wigan have a penalty.

A few plays later and they have another one and this time they will go for the sticks.

I've not seen anything at the start of this second half that leads me to believe Saints can get back into this game.

  6. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 47 mins

St Helens have their first sight of the Wigan try line in this second-half.

Jon Wilkin's kick through is gathered by Dom Manfredi, though, and the Wigan winger sprints a good 40 metres through his own in-goal area, around a number of tackles to eventually just get out.

    Top defensive work.

  7. NO TRYpublished at 45 mins

    St Helens 0-16 Wigan

    Brian Noble
Ex-Great Britain coach, BBC Radio 5 live

The television match official decides that Sean O'Loughlin ripped the ball out of the tackle which allowed Oliver Gildart to score so the try is ruled out.

That is a big decision from the video referee. That could have finished the game.

  8. TRY REVIEW (Gildart)published at 45 mins

    St Helens 0-16 Wigan

It looks as if Wigan have themselves a fourth try through Oliver Gildart but we're just checking about the ball being lost in contact earlier on..

  9. NO TRYpublished at 43 mins

    St Helens 0-16 Wigan

Wigan let the ball bounce from Jon Wilkin's high kick and it nearly costs them as Dominique Peyroux almost touches down from another kick through.

Again it is smart defensive work by Josh Charnley as he pushes the ball out.

  10. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 42 mins

Worst possible start for St Helens as Theo Fages spills the restart backwards and it goes dead and so immediately hands Wigan the ball.

If Saints coach Kieron Cunningham had any hair, I imagine he'd want to be tearing it out.

  11. Kick-offpublished at 41 mins

    St Helens 0-16 Wigan

Wigan's Matty Smith gets us back under way in the Langtree Park sunshine.

Just a reminder that Saints are in their home strip of white with the red V and Wigan are playing in blue and white hoops.

I realise if you're a St Helens fan, you are probably not in the best of moods right now.

Let me try and perk you up slightly with this - Hull FC were 20-0 down with 22 minutes left and they managed to beat Hull KR earlier today...

If you missed that game you see what you missed from our match report.

Someone needs to stand up for Saints because they are being out-muscled and out-played. Saints need to aim up in the second half. They are trying but Wigan are so dominant that it looks like they're not trying.

  16. Half-timepublished at 40 mins

    St Helens 0-16 Wigan

Well it took 21 minutes for the first points, but that half has been all Wigan's.

Dom Manfredi, Sam Powell and Joel Tomkins with the scores for the visitors in the sunshine.

St Helens looked dangerous in the opening 10 minutes but have struggled to breakdown the wall of blue and white so far, and there were one or two audible boss at the half-time hooter.

  17. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 39 mins

Matty Dawson is smashed by the Wigan defence just as he looks set to send out a try scoring pass.

St Helens then kick to the opposite side but Tommy Makinson's tap backwards is gathered by Oliver Gildart.

  18. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 38 mins

The hosts survive after Wigan knock-on and then Sean O'Loughlin holds on in a tackle for just a couple of seconds too much and concedes a penalty.

Finally an attacking platform for Saints to try and work from.

  19. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 37 mins

Wigan off loading at will in the tackle at the moment and growing in confidence with every minute.

Matty Smith's kick ricochets of a Saints defender and it's another set to look for a fourth try,...

  20. St Helens 0-16 Wiganpublished at 35 mins

Sam Powell fancies another dart close to the St Helens try line but he knocks on two metres out.

Saints will need a good set of six here, and could do with a score before the break to give themselves hope.
