Joel Tomkins is making his first appearance of the season after a knee injury but he has looked as sharp as anyone.

Dangling the ball out as if he is about to pass, he causes confusion in defence, then uses his raw power to burst through a couple of tackles

Matty Smith with two more and St Helens' players looking a bit lost with how to stop this blue and white tide right now.

  2. St Helens 0-10 Wiganpublished at 30 mins

A pocket of cheers come from a corner of Langtree Park as Wigan fans enjoy Theo Fages' attempted tactical kick going dead.

    All Warriors at the moment.

  3. St Helens 0-10 Wiganpublished at 28 mins

Not really what you want from the restart after you've taken control of the game.

Anthony Gelling catches the ball from in the in goal area and then bizarrely throws it forward so Wigan will have to kick it back to Saints.

Is that the break they need for their first points?

Where was the full-back? The ball was chipped through and I was expecting a St Helens player to pick the ball up. But it was brilliant vision from Sam Powell if he dribbled the ball through with no full-back in play.

Again, Anthony Gelling to Dom Manfredi and the Wigan winger is set on his way. Manfredi dances through a few players but with the overlap outside him, he takes contact.

Hooker Sam Powell spots a gap behind St Helens' defensive line, kicks through, gathers himself and dots down. Classy score.

Matty Smith adds two more and this has been a clinical start from Shaun Wane's Warriors.

  6. St Helens 0-4 Wiganpublished at 24 mins

Wigan on the charge again straight from the kick-off and for a second it looks as if the St Helens defence is struggling.

Oliver Gildart's kick is way over hit though when he was attempting... I'll be honest, I don't know what. But it's St Helens now with the ball.

That boy can finish! He split the defence and scythed his way through. Saints had the numbers in defence but Dom Manfredi got on the inside and with only 10 metres to go, he's not going to finish from there.

Silky hands from Wigan and Dom Manfredi has his fourth try of the season.

They have a penalty in front of the posts but opt to run it and it pays off on the right wing as Manfredi darts in.

Matty Smith's kick is greeted by whistles and boos and he misses the extras.

The atmosphere just bubbles into life again.

Wigan twice make mistakes when pressing on the Saints line and then a few huge tackles come in to raise the noise levels at Langtree Park.

Kieron Cunningham's side are three wins from three in Super League in front of their own fans this season.

  11. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 17 mins

This is real end-to-end rugby at the moment.

The Warriors now with the grubber kick to the in-goal area but Matty Smith's bouncer is palmed backwards. Saints to kick long and give Wigan another set in attack.

  12. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 16 mins

Wigan survive another kick, this time a cross-field effort from Luke Walsh.

Tommy Makinson gets up superbly to palm it back but none of his team-mates are there to touch down.

  13. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 14 mins

St Helens' kicking game has been on the money so far.

Jon Wilkin sends a bouncing grubber through to the in-goal area and makeshift full-back Dan Sarginson just about diffuses the danger.

Another kick through and guess who? Sarginson gets his body in the way again and it will be a third Wigan goal-line drop-out.

    St Helens 0-0 Wigan

Well it has taken 12 minutes, but the first huge, untimed tackle has come.

Joel Tomkins goes high on Kyle Amor trying to wrap his arms around. One or two pushes and shoves between the players and the referee again warns both sides.

No score yet but this has been a compelling opening.

  15. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 10 mins

"It's not a scrumming game, it's a game of rugby," the referee Robert Hicks says after a few resets. Almost rugby union-esque that minute with all those scrums...

Wigan get a relieving penalty and can kick up field to get out of their own territory.

  16. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 9 mins

A lovely break by Jon Wilkin gets St Helens to within striking of the try line, and Saints opt for the kick again, which Josh Charnley spills.

Scrum to Saints close to the line... which is then spilled by Wilkin. The captain stands up and throws the ball in frustration - either at his spill or that difficult low pass from Travis Burns.

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is spoken to by the referee, despite St Helens winning a penalty.

It's fair to say the Londoner is psyched up... what can Saints make of this set?

  18. St Helens 0-0 Wiganpublished at 5 mins

So, so close to the opening score for Saints.

A perfectly weighted grubber from Luke Walsh is gathered by Shannon McDonnell but he just seems to lose his feet and then the ball as he attempts to dot down.

Bright start in attack for St Helens.

    St Helens 0-0 Wigan

Around 20 minutes have passed in the other three Super League matches and here's the latest.

Catalans, who have won more games away from home than at the Stade Gilbert Brutus this season, lead Salford by 4-0.

Tom Johnstone and Jermaine McGillvary have traded tries in the Wakefield-Huddersfield game. 6-6 there.

And at the top of the league, Widnes lead Warrington 4-0 through Tom Gilmore's score.

First chance for St Helens to attack and they cross the gain line on every play.

Luke Walsh's kick is spilled over the dead ball line by Josh Charnley and it's a goal-like drop-out.

Langtree Park a cacophony of noise at the moment!
