Warrington head coach Tony Smith tells Sky Sports:

"The effort was enormous by both teams. I thought Saints' defence tonight was tremendous.

"Some of it wasn't pretty, but it was gutsy and we just had that determination and you need that in the big games."

St Helens head coach Keiron Cunningham tells Sky Sports:

"I'm deeply disappointed, I thought we were in the game for large periods.

"There were some real game-changing calls that went against us at key moments.

"I don't really want to detract from Warrington's performance because they played really solid."

    Warrington win and deservedly so.

They've had some high individual performers on the night and for me the one that stood out was Stefan Ratchford. He's come up with two brilliant pieces of play to score one try and create another for Tom Lineham.

Saints had a gameplan to kick Warrington and Ratchford took everything on the full and created opportunites off the back of it.

    FT: Warrington 18-10 St Helens

Ben Thaler blows his whistle one last time and Warrington celebrate a victory which sends them into the Super League Grand Final.

St Helens will feel themselves unlucky with at least a couple of decisions, but the hosts were deserving winners on balance.

Wolves will face either Hull FC or Wigan in the final to attempt to become domestic champions for the first time since 1955.

  8. NO TRY: Warrington 18-10 St Helenspublished at 79 mins

The video referee takes his time over the decision...no try!

St Helens might feel they're a bit unlucky there, particularly after Tom Lineham's controversial try for Warrington earlier.

  9. Peyroux over for Saints?published at 79 mins

Dominique Peyroux thinks he's over for Saints, but referee Ben Thaler disagrees and doesn't award a try on the field.

He sends it up to the video referee to check the grounding - it's mighty close.

So, so close for James Roby and St Helens, but he is denied less than a metre away from the line.

Is that game over for the five-time Super League winners?

Saints are clearly the more likely team to score now as Wolves play it safe, but they remain two scores down as they go into the final five minutes.

It's been a very professional performance from Tony Smith's Warrington side tonight.

Claire Gibbons: Come on Warrington, hold on to that lead. You can do it.

A few nerves among Warrington fans, I imagine. But they're closing in on Old Trafford.

When you're under pressure, that's when you need your home crowd. Saints have had 16 or 17 tackles to create an opportunity and they really didn't look like scoring.

You won't like it if you're a St Helens fan, but it's clever defending from Warrington, holding on in the tackle just long enough to slow down the attack without conceding many penalties.

Kurt Gidley produces a thumping tackle to win the ball back for Wolves, who get some much-needed time in possession outside their own territory.

Tom Lineham knocks on as Saints kick towards the left corner.

Luke Thompson is held up inches short of the line, but Wolves are penalised as Rhys Evans holds on in the tackle to concede another set of six.

Do Saints have any energy left to turn this game around?

Declan Patton offers them a window of opportunity, knocking on 15 metres inside his own half, but his team-mates hold strong in defence.

Just over 10 minutes left for the hosts to hold on.

    Tom Lineham

Saints spill the ball on halfway and Warrington punish the error in potentially conclusive fashion.

Wolves work the ball quickly out to the right, where Tom Lineham dives over the line.

There's more than a bit of controversy about the try - replays seem to show Lineham had dropped the ball before grounding it.

Declan Patton misses a difficult conversion attempt from right out on the touchline.

And just as I write that, Warrington are forced into kicking under pressure just shy of the halfway mark.

Jonny Lomax almost knocks on but just about clings onto the ball, and Saints kick once again to pin Warrington back deep.

    Warrington 14-10 St Helens

St Helens get back inside their opponents' half, and Jon Wilkin kicks the ball out into touch to give Warrington a scrum 10 metres out from their own line.

A bit of pressure on the hosts, but they've shown no signs of nerves carrying the ball from deep so far.

What sort of response can St Helens muster here?

Warrington have been dominant in attack and defence in this half, and Saints winger Adam Swift is shaking his head as he's forced into touch on a rare foray into Wolves territory.

But the visitors have already shown they can score points quickly, so this tie is far from over.
