Warrington threw everything at Saints there and you thought they would run out of tackles, but Stefan Ratchford scooped it up and saw the gap.

A terrific try from one of those players who takes opportunities when they come his way. He's certainly done that on a big night for his team.

A little bit of magic from Stefan Ratchford puts Warrington back in front.

Saints' swarming defence keeps the Wolves frustrated just metres out until Ratchford picks the ball up on the last tackle and darts over the line.

Declan Patton adds the two points and the lead is up to four.

    Warrington 8-10 St Helens

This half has started in just the same fashion as the first, with Saints pinned back deep and Warrington gaining good territory with every carry.

Declan Patton sets his side up 25 metres out after St Helens are called for a high tackle near the halfway line.

Kurt Gidley almost bursts over the line, and the visitors give up another set of six for another penalty.

There are times when you need to be desperate and there were three or four St Helens defenders doing anything they possibly could to stop the try.

That's the desperation you need to win semi-finals.

    Warrington 8-10 St Helens

Warrington are going to keep going with their high kicks when deep in Saints territory.

The tactic almost pays off, Saints not challenging for the ball and allowing the hosts to work the ball out to Rhys Evans on the right wing.

He's pushed into touch just before he can spring over the line. Close.

    Warrington 8-10 St Helens

A scrappy start to the second period, with both sides penalised for knock-ons.

Warrington have a scrum midway inside their own half as hooker Daryl Clark gets a little bit of treatment from the physios.

So, Saints hold a narrow lead as the players re-emerge for the start of the second half.

James Roby has been kept quiet so far though - the England international may need to get more involved if his side are to keep their advantage by the end of the match.

Warrington kick off, and we are 40 minutes away from knowing our first Grand Final participants.

What an ending to the first half, that was.

Saints deserve credit for holding strong against waves of Warrington pressure, but the hosts will still feel aggrieved not to be ahead at half-time.

It's amazing, professional rugby league. You felt that Warrington coach Tony Smith would be patting his team on the back after a job well done, but with three minutes to go before half-time, the tide turned and it became all St Helens.

They became dominant and they looked aggressive. Warrington need to dust themselves off and get their bigger men back on the field.

  12. PENALTY: Warrington 8-10 St Helenspublished at 40 mins

    Luke Walsh

A brilliant end to the first 40 minutes for St Helens.

Having been second-best for much of the game, they earn themselves a penalty which Luke Walsh converts from 40 metres out.

And that kick is the last action of the half. Warrington won't be able to believe they're trailing as they trudge off the field.

What a time to score that try. That's exactly what St Helens needed and exactly what this game needed.

We knew defences would be on top and teams had to take their opportunities.

Warrington have probably had three or four in this game and taken one. Saints have probably had one and taken one.

Jordan Turner breaks forward and springs Adam Swift down the left wing with an offload.

Swift darts down the touchline and flips the ball to Jonny Lomax, who is right with him in support to take it the rest of the way.

Luke Walsh adds the conversion to level the scores just before the break.

    Warrington 8-2 St Helens

Jack Owens is having a difficult night with these high Warrington kicks.

Having spilled the ball earlier, he almost lets the hosts in again as he fails to challenge for the ball, but Wolves can't quite gather it in.

Saints then look to hit back quickly down the left, but Adam Swift's charge is stopped by a brilliant pursuit and tackle from Tom Lineham.

    Kurt Gidley

Alex Walmsley knocks on close to his own goal-line and gives Warrington chance to crash over for the first try of the match.

A controversial one, though, as St Helens will feel that knock-on decision and the one at the other end involving Stefan Ratchford could have easily gone in their favour.

Kurt Gidley takes the ball from Declan Patton and goes over with two Saints defenders attempting to make the tackle.

Patton makes no mistake with the conversion.

I'm not a believer in the video referee getting involved with anything other than try-scoring decisions. I think we need to change that in our game, but it's certainly changed the momentum in the game.

    Warrington 2-2 St Helens

Warrington's Stefan Ratchford is penalised for a knock-on deep in his own half after losing the ball under Mark Percival's challenge.

Percival appeared to make contact with Ratchford's head in the tackle though, and after another look from the video referee, Warrington are awarded a penalty and they will be breathing a big sigh of relief.

  19. PENALTY: Warrington 2-2 St Helenspublished at 26 mins

    Luke Walsh

St Helens scrum-half Luke Walsh has the simplest of kicks, converting from almost right under the posts to level the scores.

The visitors will be delighted with the scoreline after being on the back foot for so long.

    Warrington 2-0 St Helens

Warrington are good value for their lead at the moment, and they're probably a little disappointed it's only two points after controlling the opening stages of this game.

And now Saints have a chance to tie up the scores as Wolves are penalised for interference close to their own line.
