Excellent defence from the visitors after Jack Owens' knock-on had them under some real pressure.

Saints work themselves deep into Wolves territory after getting the ball back, but the attack falls apart when James Roby knocks the ball forward.

Jack Owens has got that in his game - we've seen that throughout the season on several occasions. Warrington have tried to find him two or three four times already.

That was a mistake which now means he'll have a lot to deal with this season because Warrington are smart.

"Bend but don't break" seems to be the mantra for this Saints defence tonight.

Warrington are picking up big chunks of ground with every carry so far, but they've not come close to getting the ball over the line.

Wolves head coach Tony Smith will surely still be happier than counterpart Keiron Cunningham at the moment though.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

Declan Patton knocks on and concedes possession to St Helens with Warrington in good position once again.

Saints work the ball over halfway for the first time in the match before kicking the ball back, straight into the waiting arms of Stefan Ratchford.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

Stefan Ratchford gets his first attempt to run at the St Helens defence but he's quickly wrapped up by three tacklers.

Wolves make good progress deep into the visitors' territory, but Saints are a tough nut to crack and they're keeping their opponents out despite the pressure.

You've just got to ride this storm if you're St Helens. They've had three sets in the first six minutes and every one has started in their own 10-metre area, which shows you that Warrington are quite dominant.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

Good early pressure from Warrington, pinning Saints back close to their own goal-line.

Luke Walsh attempts to put pressure back on the hosts, but sends his attempt at a 40:20 just short of the line.

St Helens kick this first semi-final off, with Stefan Ratchford taking the ball cleanly.

Saints will need to keep Ratchford quiet tonight - the influential utility back has a terrific try-scoring record.

Mere moments away from kick-off now, and the players have taken to the field.

The conditions look pretty good for attacking rugby league, after a few spots of rain fell during the warm-ups.

When St Helens won 11 from 12 in Super League, it was because teams couldn't deal with them physically.

That's a challenge for Warrington. If they can't deal with them physically, I'd envisage Luke Walsh pulling all of the strings and being the man of the match.

Warrington head coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We're looking forward to the contest as we've had some really good battles with them over the last few seasons. I hope Saints play well and we'll play better.

"They have a big pack but we're no shrinking violets ourselves. It should be a good battle up front.

"It's do-or-die from here on in but these are the games we want to be involved in."

St Helens head coach Keiron Cunningham told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"The game is going to be won defensively. The middles are going to try to knock the hell out of each other.

"There are lots of leaders in that Warrington side and you can see that in abundance, so it's going to be exceptionally tough for us."

Warrington forward Ben Westwood, who will miss the remainder of the season with injury, has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 live sports extra about that St Helens 'hoodoo'.

"I think it's hard not to talk about it. Everyone else is. We've maybe had 30 seconds on it in the dressing room," said Westwood.

"It's a record they've got, but this is a one-off game. That's history and hopefully tonight's the night we crack that duck."

    Home advantage crucial? Not necessarily.

Warrington's last home victory over St Helens was back in June 2011, and Saints are on a seven-match winning streak at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

St Helens have been terrific in the last quarter of the season defensively and that's going to be Warrington's challenge. Can they break down this Saints defensive structure? You just feel it's going to be very tight and so difficult to call.
