    Warrington 24-12 Brisbane

Brisbane turn frantic defence into attack in an instant, racing into Warrington territory.

Wolves can't take advantage of a goal-line drop-out and Brisbane break quickly down the other end, but Jai Arrow is held up over the line.

    Warrington 24-12 Brisbane

Josh McGuire tries to carry the ball out of defence, charging straight at Warrington's Kevin Brown.

Brown's tackle is stronger than McGuire's grip though, the Brisbane player spilling the ball as he makes contact.

Unfortunately for Warrington, they can't take advantage of the opportunity, putting a kick out into touch.

Injured Warrington full-back Stefan Ratchford on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "We knew we wouldn't have it our own way for 80 minutes.

"We've been good in defence and we've cut some of the errors out with the ball."

Brilliant defending from Warrington sees Brad Dwyer charge down another Brisbane kick.

The Broncos concede a penalty inside their own half, but Warrington's attack is halted because Ryan Atkins has gone down injured.

The replays show he took a nasty blow to the face as he was tackled into a Brisbane defender's knee. He'll need a bit of treatment for that one.

How do Warrington respond from here?

They don't look panicked by that Brisbane try, but the Australians are looking strong at the start of the second period.

Wolves have more defending to do here as they concede a penalty about 10 metres inside their own half.

    James Roberts

From a scrum close to his own posts, James Roberts spots a little gap in the Warrington defensive line and darts through it.

Rhys Evans almost chases him down, but it's not quite enough, and Roberts has Brisbane's second try of the night.

Jordan Kahu makes the conversion - the gap is down to 12.

    Warrington 24-6 Brisbane

Nothing comes of Brisbane's first attack and Warrington respond well, a long, high kick from Declan Patton pinning the Australians deep.

Again, Broncos make good ground, but Wolves stay strong in defence inside their own half.

    Kevin BrownImage source, PA

I can't remember watching too many better debuts than the one Kevin Brown has had for Warrington tonight.

The England international joined Wolves for an undisclosed fee from Widnes in December, and he already looks at home alongside Declan Patton at half-back.

A mention too for Tom Lineham, who was dropped for a long spell last season because of concerns over his work ethic.

The winger has since clawed his way back into Tony Smith's plans, and his late try could prove crucial come full-time.

Sunday: Wigan v Cronulla (15:00 GMT)

Tomorrow, it's Wigan's turn. The Warriors face Cronulla Sharks in the World Club Challenge.

Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "It's a great opportunity for Wigan and Super League generally. It's an international stage. It should be a great event."

Tony Smith will be thrilled with what he's seen from Warrington in the first half, but he'll know it might not be quite so easy in the final 40 minutes.

Brisbane were poor early on, but they've grown into the game as it's gone on.

Have they left themselves too much to do though?

  13. try

TRY: Warrington 24-6 Brisbanepublished at 20:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2017

    Tom Lineham

Tom Lineham was tackled just short of the line, but he has just - and only just - enough momentum to take him over, while keeping his leg narrowly out of touch on the sideline.

It's good decision-making from Lineham, picking the ball up near the corner and taking Brisbane by surprise as he dives through a gap in their defence.

This time, Declan Patton's conversion is no good, wide of the posts.

The referee thinks so, but he sends it up for review.

    Warrington 20-6 Brisbane

Injured Warrington full-back Stefan Ratchford on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "We've started well, we wanted a reaction from losing to Catalans last week and we've been pass-perfect.

"We knew Kevin Brown was going to be really good for us. He's shown that tonight, with the way he's controlled this game."

    Warrington 20-6 Brisbane

David Mead sees a bit of space down the Brisbane right and charges through it, but Tom Lineham gets back quickly to get a bit of pressure on.

His efforts pay off as well, as Mead is forced into an ambitious swinging pass back, which Darius Boyd can't cling on to.

There's just five minutes left in the half now.

Kevin Brown has been outstanding on his Warrington debut, his latest contribution a deep kick which pins Brisbane back close to their line.

It's turning into a really good contest as the half wears on.

    Warrington 20-6 Brisbane

It's very tight, but Josh McGuire relieves the pressure on Warrington's defence with a forward pass.

Excellent defence from Wolves there in the face of heavy pressure from the Australians.
