    Saturday result: Warrington 27-18 Brisbane

Warrington coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "We were brilliant in the first half. I wouldn't say faultless, but close to it. It was a really strong and solid display.

"Kevin Brown made a difference - his kicking game was first-class - Kurt Gidley was great at the back and so many of our players stood up and played well."

Is Brown the missing piece in Warrington's jigsaw? "I hope so," said Smith. "But that jigsaw changes throughout the season.

"We're going to have to play with different combinations at different stages, but it'll be nice to have Kevin fit and healthy more often that not."

Warrington half-back Kevin Brown enjoyed the perfect debut, scoring a try two minutes into his first appearance and producing a man-of-the-match display to inspire his new club to victory.

The England international told BBC Radio 5 live sports extra: "The atmosphere was like a cup final. It was really tough leaving Widnes but days like this are the reason why - not just to play in them, but to win them.

"When I was growing up, I saw Wigan beat Brisbane over in Australia (in 1994). Hopefully some little lad was watching that and plays because of that."

Warrington started the World Club Series with a bang last night, ending an eight-game losing streak for Super League clubs against Australian opposition.

Wolves raced to a 20-0 lead against Brisbane Broncos and held off a late fightback to secure a 27-18 victory, the first for an English side since Leeds beat Manly in 2012.

With one win already in the bag, can Wigan make it a clean sweep this afternoon?

Wigan are three-time World Club champions, but it's been some time since they last lifted the biggest prize in club rugby league.

You have to go all the way back to 1994 for their last World Club Challenge triumph, a 20-14 win over Brisbane Broncos in Australia.

In their way today are Cronulla Sharks, who became NRL champions for the very first time last season.
