Well that just about does it for our live text coverage this evening. I'm off to splash my face with cold water and have a cup of tea.

That match showed why rugby league is one of the greatest sports in the world as far as I'm concerned. It truly had it all.

  2. 'It's what rugby league is about'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    FT: Castleford 23-22 St Helens

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell told Sky Sports:

"What a crazy game. It was pretty tight at half-time, we got 10 points in front but we can't defend our try-line.

"I dunno what we were doing. I thought we did enough to win it until the end. Galey held his nerve with a bit of class.

"It's what rugby league is about, you don't know you've won until the end. It is great to hear the fans. It was tough to watch but I'm so pleased for the boys and everyone at the club that we've got to the Grand Final."

  3. 'I feel horrible'published at 21:57 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    FT: Castleford 23-22 St Helens

St Helens coach Justin Holbrook told Sky Sports:

"I feel horrible. It's hard to take at the moment. We showed the effort from the boys tonight.

"Away from home we kept coming and it was nearly enough to win it but it's devastating.

"It was a disappointing way to lose. I couldn't be prouder of the players but the result is hurting."

  4. 'Things happen for a reason'published at 21:56 British Summer Time 28 September 2017

    FT: Castleford 23-22 St Helens

Castleford Tigers' Luke Gale told Sky Sports:

"It's hard to sum up. It was an awesome game, we thought we'd blown it but then it came down to the last second and it's my job to kick the drop goals.

"What a great spectacle that was. Hopefully the Grand Final can be like that.

"What an amazing story we've had this year. It's been outstanding. Being in hospital two weeks ago thinking my season was over to this.

"Things happen for a reason and I knew I had the self belief to do it tonight. I'm proud of the boys."

    Drama at the end!

There's an off-the-ball incident and Castleford win a penalty which they will surely kick over to take us to golden point.

    Ryan Morgan

I can't quite believe this. This is unbelievable. Are Saints about to rain on Castleford's parade?

Ben Barba's been tremendous tonight and he's helped work yet another St Helens try. Ryan Morgan collects James Roby's pass and edges the visitors ahead.

Mark Percival misses the extras yet again though.

Castleford fans, you lads have got about two minutes to find a try.

Never write off the Saints. They've come up with the goods, and they look very incisive when they get into the Castleford half.

    Mark Percival

Do not, by any means, rule St Helens out just yet.

Ben Barba shows his class and tees up Mark Percival to cross over and the Saints man makes no mistake.

That's two tries in four minutes for the visitors but Percival just misses the conversation by inches. Ooh it's tense.

What price a Luke Gale drop-goal for Castleford in these final eight minutes? A one-pointer would leave St Helens needing two tries to win.

That was exactly the same play Saints used to get Regan Grace over in the first half.

    Tommy Makinson

Luke Walmsley gets over the line but he's held up successfully by Castleford. Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook tries his luck and Matty Smith's penalised for a high tackle.

Tommy Makinson finally gets the ball down and Saints could be back in this.

The home crowd do their best to put off Mark Percival's conversion attempt and they succeed. He misses.

    Adam Milner, goal Luke Gale

Just after Paul McShane's successful 40-20, Adam Milner gets the ball down and referee James Child signals a try but takes it upstairs.

Video ref Phil Bentham gives the go ahead and Castleford are two scores in front.

What a fantastic five minutes Milner's had. And Luke Gale continues his fine form with the boot as he adds the extras.

    Castleford 14-10 St Helens

    What a turnaround!

Cas, who'd been under the cosh for so much of the second half, definitely have their tails up.

Paul McShane nails a 40-20 kick and they're definitely on top.

    Great Odin's raven, that's a tremendous tackle.

Ben Barba finds a way through a wall of Castleford players and eventually the ball finds Tommy Makinson who's rushing on to score what should be a certain try in the corner, but Adam Milner pulls off a try-saving tackle for the hosts.

    Stupendous.
