    Australia 0-0 England

Lovely variation from Australia to move the ball around and test out England across the field.

They mix up out the back and line-balls beautifully, but to be fair England are defending really well.

Cooper Cronk's kick is mopped. Then Luke Gale on the corresponding set pins Australia back in their own end. Fine work by the Cas half-back.

That last tackle, you have to be more clinical there. You can't do that against Australia.

    Australia 0-0 England

Cameron Smith launches a kick downfield on third tackle, but it was well read by England and it means the start of the set begins on the 40.

England using the ball well to go right... then the first mistake by the men in white, Luke Gale knocking on, turning the ball over for their possession on the last in midfield.

It's an arm wrestle at the start of this game and the longer this goes on, the better it is for England.

    Australia 0-0 England

Australia going through the middle to take England on at the moment. Finished their set 30 out, kick went up but Gareth Widdop did brilliantly to claim it and sidestep a challenge.

Now time for the outside backs to get involved. England will be satisfied with this so far.

England need an 80-minute performance. They've got to be good. They've got to execute all the way because we don't want to see another scramble late on like in the semi final against Tonga.

Australia have some real strike out on their fringes, with Boyd Cordner and Matt Gillett both deadly when blasting through holes on the edges.

Both sides getting through their sets so far. Meanwhile, James Graham still clattering away despite the blood that was streaming down his face.

Kick for kick, set for set so far. Tight start.

We've had some late starts in this competition so far, so seven minutes after nine isn't too bad.

    Australia v England (09:00 GMT)

England's Denis Betts: "For a number of years when you talk to people who’ve been involved in international rugby, we’ve had a side who can compete but Australia have always had to be under par.

"I think today if we play our best we win, it doesn’t matter what Australia do. That’s a massive mindset shift, I think that’s what this group and Wayne has done with this group is get them a lot of belief and a lot of confidence in their own ability.

"It’s been relaxed and focused this week, I think we understood the focus of the tournament. We wanted to be here.

"It’s not about the first game against Australia, that wasn’t going to win us the World Cup. We came with a plan and worked really hard on that throughout the tournament, now we’re in the final with a shot at the big one."

Australia head coach Mal Meninga: "It's been pretty smooth, we are really happy with the group - the attitude is good, commitment is good, we're fresh and healthy and ready to go.

"We know England are a great side, they will come out pretty hard and try and beat us up through the middle

"Their back five are a big threat, so we've worked hard on all aspects of our defence this week.

"We know everyone is expecting us to win and we want to play that way."
